Here's the deal ladies and gentlemen. Andyhack has put an idea in my head. Let's have a Greatest of All Time Draft. The draft will include 10 teams. I have listed names on the bottom of the people I would like to see in the forum. These are people that I have had great debates with or with opinions I highly value. Please let me know if you are interested or not. We will go 1 through 10 round one, then 10 through 1 round 2 and continue on rotating until the teams are set. 12 forwards, 6 defense, and 2 goalies. Then, I will make a poll with everyone's team and let the people decide whose team is the best. Let’s do our best to do at least one round of picks in a day or two tops except for week ends.

Who's in??

Andyhack, Beans15, Willus3, Babs, Mik, Framer87, semin rules, IHC, Leigh, Pucknuts.

If everyone is in, that will make 10. Please post to say if you are interested or not. If so, pick a number between 1-100. Who ever is closest will get 2nd pick and so on. It’s my draft I get first pick!

Sorry for those who I missed. More than 10 would be too time consuming and tough to manage.

it would be interesting to see if OV and Sid and even Stammer and Toews and a bunch of the other young stars in this> I doubt Crosby and OV last as long again and doubtful whoever has OV playes on the respected teams 4th line.....
Guest2130 Posted - 12/12/2010 : 18:37:03
Lidstrom was also drafted twice.

Yoo wayback playbck right here. I remember being on the boards 3 years ago, this was interesting to see lol.

Sure, but I don't know if it's 100% accurate so you'll have to verify it.

www.geocities.com/atomahockey/GOATdraft.xls (under GOAT tab).

And I never added the lines, so if you want to make that part of the poll you'll have to add those too.
Beans15 Posted - 04/30/2007 : 10:36:15
Babs, I think it would be best to use your spreadsheet when I put it up. Can you re-post the link to it please.
bablaboushka Posted - 04/29/2007 : 19:52:51
I think that's a very wise decision Beans and I was actually thinking that that would be best in order to garner some attention to it.
Beans15 Posted - 04/29/2007 : 13:51:02
I thought there was way too many other topics about the playoffs to do it until after the Cup.

Well we did and it was a waste of time because only a couple people voted and less commented.

I've figured it out, the guys gotta play like girls!

Head Coach
Glen Sather

Starters
Esposito-Messier-Bossy
Murphy-Langway
Hainsworth

Forwards
Line Two
Larmer-Believeau-H.Richard
Line Three
Anderson-Stastny-MacDonald
Line Four
Kovalenko-Bellows-Verbeek

Defense
Line Two
Suter-Carlyle
Line Three
Lowe-Iafrate

Back up Goalie
Gump Worsley

Totally balanced offensive attack in the last 3 forward lines with loads of talent in the starting 3 forwards. No real defensive slouches anywhere up front. Defensive pairings are one offensive and one defensive focused players. Goalies are solid.

I am thinking I would win more than my share of games, and they would more than likely be high scoring games.

I am more than pleased to put this team against all comers!
Mikhailova Posted - 04/03/2007 : 08:30:13
OK, Framer, 1CF, and Beans still need to post their lines.

Defence

Scott Niedermayer – Scott Hannan
Line 3
Chris Pronger – Adam Foote

Goalie
Backup
Eddie Belfour

I know putting Crosby on the starting line in a GOAT Draft is a little risquee, but man would I love to see him playing with Richard. A finisher and a bodyguard, all with blazing speed. It would be a treat to see.

I'll have to roll out my third line against that one I think.
Federov - Lindros - Iginla.

Mik I'm curious to know what made you put Larionov on a line with Gretzky?

The Chicago Blackhawks

Coach - Pat Burns

Starters:
Michel Goulet - Denis Savard - Yvan Cournoyer(the roadrunner)
Doug Harvey - Denis Potvin
Bernie Parent
Line 2:
Rene Robert - Gilbert Perreault - Rick Martin (The Famed French Connection line)
Line 3:
Sergei Federov - Eric Lindros - Jarome Iginla
Line 4:
Steve Shutt - Bob Gainey - Alex Delvecchio

Defense 2
Brad Park - Serge Savard
Defense 3
Pierre Pilote - Mark Howe

Goal 2 - Gerry Cheevers

Line 1 is a well balanced line with great speed, playmaking and goal scoring.
Line 2 is the famous Buffalo line known to produce big numbers.
Line 3 I think would be devastating. The most well rounded line I have.
Line 4 is an incredible checking line that can also produce points.

Defense 1 could only be improved by substituting Orr in for one of them. Other than that, this is the best defensive pairing possible.
Defense 2 can shut anyone down and contribute offensively.
Defense 3 are complete, well rounded defenseman.
13 Norris trophies and about the same number of runner ups for my defensive core. Wow!

Bernie Parent has the record for wins in a season. He's main reason Philly won their two cups in the 70's.
Gerry Cheevers is one of the best goalies ever when the game is important.

I chose to not have an enforcer because all my players can take care of themselves. No need to waste a roster spot on a guy who can't play. A couple might get their clocks cleaned but they don't need a bodyguard.

So those are my reasons.

This may be a surprise but the Thrashers will take Ted Nolan as there Head Coach, Since im only 13 i don't know much about coaches, other than Scotty Bowman, and i think Ted Nolan has done an amazing job with the New York Islanders.
