Okay... so, I don't follow.

If Conklin should be on, but he plays more like a starter.. Should Osgood not be in the same catagory?

Or, is Hasek Detroit's backup? You've lost me. ;)

I picked other....whether you want to admit it or not Osgood is the BACK UP goalie....here's an easy way to determine who the back up of a team is....it's game 7 of the Cup Finals, who's going to be in the goal?

Also, I guess some of you haven't been paying attention because Garon is currently the go to guy in Edmonton as opposed to a back up.

Back up goalies can go from back up to starter in 1 year or 1 playoff run.

Ty Conklin is doing what Ward did in the Cup run of 06. Yeah, he is a starter at the moment. But he obviously is not the STARTER starter!

Thank you for the honour. Look, I am getting quoted! Momma, I made you proud!

But I do not agree, as I do not feel Osgood was in essence a back up, although technically, you are right, he is.

But for this forum, I don't think he counts. Most FSN guys drafted rounds and rounds before other backups. Anybody's guess as to why!

As Alex would say... "a back up is a back up is a back up."

So with that said, I'd have to say Osgood. The fact is, we all know Hasek is the #1 in Detroit. Harder to tell with Ottawa, but the guy there is currently Gerber. So i'd call Emery the back up there.

I would agree with that Alex. Here's one for everyone...CUJO! Hey, it could happen!

I've gotta go with Osgoode on this one. It's at the point where Babcock still doesn't know who his #1 is.

I'd say Garon has taken over #1 spot in E-Town.
Alex Posted - 01/24/2008 : 12:47:28
Fine but Osgood had a legitamte chance, we all knew that Hasek would not play more than three quarters with his back and Osgood's potential, at his age!

Same story with Emery, we knew Gerber would give him a run for his money as he got to start the season.

Osgood wasn't supposed to be a starter, that was HASEK.

Ellis or Mason?

OK but Emery was a legitamite starter at the beginning of the season, as was Osgood.

But most of us didn't expect to see Conklin half as many starts as he has wins, what with Fleury and Sabourin as first and second options!

As far as I'm concerened though, this season he's not a back-up. If I add him I have to add Emery and Osgood too.

Ellis or Mason?

GOOD original question, I like it!

But Conklin deserves a spot there Nash! Look at the standings in the East!
