The Pittsburg Penguins are on fire right now. Crosby is leading the nhl in points and malkin is looking forward to the rookie trophy. Now my question, will the penguins be able to win a stanley cup this year or in the next 3 years?

I'll go on record and put anything up in a bet:

Cup Finals by the 2011-2012 season (5 years)

Sid and the boys will gain some playoff experience this year, and probably get their a$$es handed to them. They'll be 5/6 seeds for a few years, maybe even win a division if Brodeur breaks his neck in a tragic boating accident....but the big-time is coming!

i agree, if they make it to the playoffs for a few years in a row, they'll have a good shot at a cup. Their only problem is between the pipes...they're winning games, but the scores have all been 6-5, 5-4 etc..and they've been up by 3 or 4 goals before the 3rd period. If they're going to win a cup, fleury needs to pick up his game.

Letang is a great player or at least when I watched him at the World Juniors. I think that the Pens will win a cup soon; not this year but in a couple years.

Kris Letang WJ captain. Kid's a stud. He will take Gonchar's role in 3 seasons.

Also the American kid Gigloiski (bad spelling?) looks like a stud too.

Wow the penguins drafted like crap up until 2000. Since then Malone and staff have been on fire. Sure they've had some top no brainer picks but look beyond the obvious.

Max Talbot 7-8 th rounder
Christenson 3 rd rounder
Letang 3 rd rounder
Gigloski 2 or 3rd

There's quite a few more too but I'd have to look up exactly what round of draft.

The Pens won't win it this year, maybe in the near future. They have made a big jump recently from 11th in the East to 5th, but they need a few more years to "evolve"...for Malkin, Fleury, and Staal to improve even more and to play well together. And for Crosby to continue his streak of point scoring, and also to mature a bit and stop whining/diving every time someone hits him with a stick.

im gonna go with, they won't win the cup in 3 years.... true they are gettin better and have become stronger as the year goes on... but theres also other teams that have become stronger and are looking to become cup contenders very soon... i wouldn't rule out chicago in 3 years, or nashville... if tampa ever gets themself a stellar tender i'd be watching out for them too.. the pens will be good, theres no denying that, but im gonna say no for the cup...

They won't win one this year or next year, but maybe in 3 years they might have a chance

Not this year, I don't think that Fleury is good enough yet, in three years if the team is still together, they definitely have a chance...
