Posted - 12/27/2006 : 09:40:15 I am jumping on the Trivia train! I got a great book that is all about hockey in the 80's. From reading part of it, it is loaded with really great trivia.
For the first question:
It is easy to answer who had the most points through the 80's (Gretzky) but who had the second most points though the 80's?? |

Brian Trottier had an amazing 27game streak over three consecutive playoff years! He scored in 7 straight games in 1980, 18 straight in 1981 and 2 games in 1982! He totalled 42 points during this streak. His 18 game streak is the longest in one playoff year as well! |

I believe he had a 20+ game point streak the year Carolina won the cup. Then the year they went to the conference finals I believe they had a near perfect record whenever he got a point. Man does he love playoffs. |

Posted - 02/09/2013 : 09:32:49 How about Bryan Trottier of the Islanders ? |

Posted - 02/09/2013 : 02:45:32 I wanna say Reggie Leech (Leach?) the year he won the Conn Smythe ...or that might be too far back... |

Who holds the record for most consecutive games with at least 1 point in Stanley Cup Playoff play? |

In 1974, Buffalo Sabres GM Punch Imlach drafted Taro Tsujimoto, a star centre for the Tokyo Kanatas of the JIHL. Tsujimoto, chosen 183rd overall, did not play in the NHL for a very specific reason. What was it?

Posted - 02/07/2013 : 14:18:22 also the book i got this out of was from 2011 and savard played 25 games in the 2010-2011 season so he may not be technically active but the NHL website still shows his stats when you search ACTIVE players although he hasnt been playing. |

Savard, like guys like Pronger (inj) and Arnott (FA), are technically still active but let's face it, Savard is DONE, Pronger is in doubt and Arnott may catch on somewhere eventually!

Great question! |

With this clue I'm now confident it is Heatley. |

Without the clue, i'd never have guessed him! We're still short one, correct? And if he's as obscure as Savard, we may need another clue. lol.
Is Savard active?
PPG guys that have been moved and not yet mentioned.
Jagr - Washington. Heatley - Ottawa or SJ. B. Richards - Tampa/Dallas. But being a lady bing guy, unlikely. Kovalev - NYR . Highly doubt it. Bertuzzi with Van. Points are in doubt. |

Posted - 02/07/2013 : 13:26:32 Ah, i didn't read that closely enough to see it was only 2 of the 3 who are with new teams.
I just looked up Malkin and he's one of them. He has 437GP's, 539PTS and barely squeezes by with 444PIMS. Ironically, and the OP can clarify, if not for the 18PIMS in 10 games this season so far, he'd fall just shy by 1 single PIM!!! So, if the OP was using a list not including this year, Malkin may not be one he was including?
I just looked up Thornton (as well as Hossa and Kovalchuk after i posted them earlier) and none qualify.

I was going with Malkin and Crosby and Thornton with Boston. But with the hint that two of them are not with another team, one or both of Malkin or Crosby is wrong. I'll go with Malkin since Sid isn't know for PIMs.
So Malkin, Thornton and Hossa with Atlanta.

Posted - 02/07/2013 : 11:40:23 Wow, so it wasn't a trick question like i figured. This is tough...Must be former studs who're older now and on to finish their careers with another team, yet have to have been PPG+ players! |
| Guest2462 |
Posted - 02/07/2013 : 11:25:01 They have all played more than 150 games with the teams in question. |

Posted - 02/07/2013 : 11:10:47 Ribeiro is actually correct but hes not on this list so i guess i should say they have to have played at least a full season with that team. |

You may want to clarify your question, as it reads, that's almost everybody in the league I would think. 20 pts. 65 pms. That's more than there are games in a season.....
Just a suggestion as I am sure that isn't what you meant.
Ahh after reading Alex's reply I see where you are going...I think.

Ok, i've been racking my brain and the best guesses i could come up with are Ovechkin (doubt he's got the PIMS) and Getzlaf, who may in fact have both? However, i sense a trick question here. So, the only guys i can think of off the top of my head who have either just been traded, or are rookies, and who are at a PPG+ pace are Conacher and Ribiero. Not sure if Yakuupov's over a PPG or of anyone else who's in that "new team/rookie" category. So, i'll go with: Getzlaf Conacher Ribiero |

Playing with my boy Huberdeau in sunny Florida?!? Who the f#@* knew that? Not me, that's for sure.
I still would have missed him though . . . just didn't think he had actually scored as much as he had, especially not having had a 50 goal season, and with his many injuries. Long career though.
