Posted - 01/27/2012 : 23:33:07 Calgary has traded forward Brendan Morrison in exchange for Chicago's Brian Connelly. Morrison has 11 points in 28 games this season, and Connelly has 0 NHL experience but is doing very well in the AHL.
Now I think Chicago has won this trade. With Toews out, Chicago gets another forward to help them out, and Morrison adds a veteran presence to the dressing room with lots of playoff experience. And it looks like Calgary is trying to slowly get a little younger!

Posted - 01/28/2012 : 15:55:28 I think this is a good trade for both sides honestly - CHI gets some forward depth with a speedy and reliable Morrison. I wouldn't call 17 playoff games since the lockout "lots of playoff experience", esp on a team that has gone deep in the past 3 years and won it once... but he's a solid player that is defensively responsible and can chip in with scoring.
I don't know much about Connelly, but he's at least a prospect for the Calgary rebuild-that-is-coming, decent trade off. Some additional insight from some publication somewhere, indicating that moving Morrison sets up CGY to pursue Carter... |
