I see that Nino Niederreiter wants the Islanders to trade him. Not sure where I stand on this request. On the one hand the Islanders screwed up his development by keeping him in the nhl to do nothing last season. I will never understand there management style or even if they have 1. Most mismanaged team out side of Toronto. This was to be one of there building blockes heading forward and now he wants out. On the other hand he is only 20 and it is jumping the gun a bit to ask for a trade already. If the Islanders say no to Nino they run the risk of him refusing to sign after next season when his first contract is up. If they trade him they look weak and with Vishnovsky already saying no to playing for them will they ever be able to trade for or sign a free agent, who would want to go there. All that being said as a Flames fan I would love to get this guy Big center and has a history with Sven, the problem would be the asking price if it was a first and mid level prospect for Nino and a 3rd it would be ok but hard to add more. What are your thoughts

I normally wouldn't like to hear a young guy wanting a trade either, but I too think NYI has mismanaged the guy. I don't think he is being a primadonna and expecting to be in the NHL - his beef seems to be that despite doing very well in the minors during the lockout, he was not even given a chance to make the team this year in training camp - I'd call WTF as well.

Even if Snow doesn't think he'll make the team this year or he has every intention of keeping him in the minors all year, he should have called him up and given him a chance in training camp. He's the top ranked prospect in their system.
