In his 21st NHL season, Jason Arnott barely stays off this list: he had one season with 72 points and one with 76. But lets also consider he has NEVER played a full NHL season. I know he didn't make the cut but I just wanted to point this out instead of reiterating what others have already noted.

18 seasons Pasty :) And yeah Arnott was one of the guys i looked up earlier to see he had hit the 70 mark.

Yeah, the guys who didn't play a lot of full seasons but who were aces otherwise were my first looks . . . but usually, they snuck in at least a season of over 70.

To answer Andy after his clarification, my top two forwards:

1) Carbonneau
2) Jordan Staal

My top 2 D-men:

1) Scott Niedermeyer
2) Chris Pronger

good spot, i double counted some seasons where he got traded. and it's Patchy, haven't posted on the forums here in some time.

Mike Comrie, ryder has been pretty close and Jeff O'Neil came really close. Mike Knuble had a bunch of 50+ too

Yeah that's what i figured you probably did. And sorry about the name, a typo on my part :)

Add Adam Graves to the list of players who almost quality for this list, but not quite since he had 1 season in which he put up 79 points (including 52 goals).
