While he may or may not be the problem in EDM, he's the easiest part to change up, so EDM did what they probably should have done 10 games ago and fired Eakins.
For EDM fans - now what?

Mcclean or Bylsma, no more rookie head coaches. Apparently Mac T is taking over for know but I expect that to be an interm thing |

TSN is reporting that MacT will be transitioning Nelson into the job |

I'd like to see if MacT is better on the bench than in the rafters with this group. Its not like he hasn't done well in the past. But from other comments it looks like he is Co-coach in the Interim only. I wish Dallas Eakins well, but as a fan favorite move of Oilers fans, the coaches shute wasn't pulled on the freefall. I wonder if Maclean even considered the Oilers as a destination? |

new reports today suggesting that the next moves will be with the team, and that everyone is technically in play. Even Taylor Hall, which I find surprising - if you're going to keep one of that bunch to build around, it would be Hall IMO.
Things are sure to get interesting in EDM in 2015. |

"Technically" everyone. Meaning, Hall is available if you want to drastically overpay!
That's the way i would read that. Let's face it, Gretzky was once traded / sold. Since then, any player is available "technically". |

Depends on the return for Hall. The kid is definitely a good player and can be a cornerstone you build around, but if the return is high enough, I'll take it.
Nelson might not be a bad move I guess. He knows the AHL group inside and out and has worked with all these other kids. Maybe he can finally spark a fire under them,
Watching the last two games, I feel like the team has responded well, even though both were losses in classic epic breakdowns. I feel their team game has gotten a bit better.
Who the hell knows, I've been thinking the same every year now. |

I take that back. Especially after seeing them in person in Calgary, way different then on TV. It felt like there was no fight left in them.
Just like against Dallas, if there is a way to lose, they will find it. Ugh. |

So maybe it WASN'T just Eakins being inexperienced, eh?
You know what they say about coaching ... you show me a good goalie, and I'll show you a great coach.
