Goalkeeper Michal Neuvirth, forward Tyler Kennedy join Islanders after trade

Uniondale, NY, United States (4E Sports) - The New York Islanders added goalkeeper Michal Neuvirth and forward Tyler Kennedy to their roster after trade deals with the Buffalo Sabres and San Jose Sharks.

New York dealt goaltender Chad Johnson and a 2016 third-round pick in exchange of Neuvirth .

The 26-year-old said he was shocked learning about the deal but is happy to be in the playoffs.

Neuvirth , who will backup Jaroslav Halak , is 6-17-3 this season with a 2.99 goals-against average and .'8 save percentage.

"I think [ Jaroslav ] and I are going to be a good tandem. Hopefully we're going to go deep in the playoffs. They are a great team with great, skilled players," Neuvirth stated.

Meanwhile, Kennedy was sent to New York by the Sharks for a conditional draft pick in 2015 or 2016.

The 28-year-old played in 25 games this season listing nine points (four goals, five assists).

Kennedy was selected in the 2004 NHL Draft (No. 99) and has 1" points (84 goals) in 464 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Sharks.
