Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E Sports) - The Los Angeles Kings have acquired defenseman Andrej Sekera from the Carolina Hurricanes, who in turn will receive a conditional first-round pick and prospect Roland McKeown .

Sekera has two goals and 17 assists in 57 games this season and recorded a career-high 44 points last season.

The trade is meant to fortify the Kings for another Stanley Cup run and they were willing to give up two assets for Sekera who would be an unrestricted free agent this summer

Kings general manager Dean Lombardi said that with his team's eight-game winning streak the players deserve the best chance to repeat and that "it's almost like" he owes it to them.'

The Hurricanes could get the pick this year if the Kings make the playoffs. If not, the Hurricanes will receive the team's 2016 first-round pick instead.
