Raleigh, NC, United States (4E Sports) - Carolina Hurricanes defenseman James Wisniewski did not have the greatest of debuts for his new team as he suffered a torn ACL skating for just 47 seconds in a 2-1 loss to the Nashville Predators Thursday.

Wisniewski , an 11-year veteran, was acquired via trade deal June from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for goaltender Anton Khudobin .

Unfortunately in the 31-year-old's debut, while battling with Predators forward Viktor Arvidsson for the puck, he was slammed to the boards.

Because of the momentum, Arvidsson hit Wisniewski's knee and it was bent inwards.

Wisniewski went down, held on to his right knee, and was assisted by his teammates off the ice.

Hurricanes executive vice president and general manager Ron Francis announced Friday that Wisniewski will have surgery and will likely be sidelined for six months.
