Winnipeg, MB, Canada (4E Sports) - Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane believes a fast start for the season is key to score 50 goals, he shared in a session with the media.

"I said when I got drafted that I can score 50 [goals] and I know I can score 50," Kane said to the Winnipeg Sun.

The 23-year-old also stated, "Playing with the right guys and playing with those guys consistently, and obviously staying healthy is a big part of it too. The sky is the limit."

Kane scored 30 goals in the 2011-2012 season but was slowed by injuries.

Last season he scored five goals in his first nine games but was only able to record 14 more in his next 54 to finish with 19.

According to Kane, he needs to start on a strong note to score 50 goals, "We'll see what happens. I have to have a good start," he stated.

After all the setbacks, Kane pointed out that he will always play physical.

Kane also expressed his desire to remain a member of the Jets.

"I'm happy to be a Winnipeg Jet right now, I'm looking forward to camp and looking forward to having a good start to the season; all things I've said before."

Kane is likely to start with right wing Blake Wheeler and center Mark Scheifele for coach Paul Maurice this season.

"I've played with those guys before and I'm looking forward to continuing to build with them through camp and having a good season with them," he shared with Ken Wiebe.
