New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) - Six-time NHL all-star defenseman Carol Vadnais died Sunday at the age of 68, losing his battle against cancer.

Vadnais started his 17-year NHL career in the 1966-1967 season, playing for the Montreal Canadiens.

He became a journeyman and played for the California Golden Seals, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils before hanging up his jersey after the 1982-1983 season.

Vadnais had a total of 169 goals and 587 points in his professional career.

The six-time all-star won two Stanley Cups, the first in 1967-1968 with the Canadiens and another with the Bruins in 1971-1972.

The New York Rangers expressed their condolences for Vadnais through Twitter.

"Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of #NYR alum Carol Vadnais who passed away. Vadnais played 7 seasons with the Rangers."
