Rangers agree to new deals with forwards Chris Kreider, Kevin Hayes

New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) - The New York Rangers have agreed to deals with forwards Chris Kreider and Kevin Hayes, avoiding their scheduled arbitration hearing.

According to reports, the Rangers gave Kreider a 4-year, $18.5 million contract while Hayes agreed to a 2-year deal with an average annual value of $2.6 million.

Kreider and Hayes were the third and fourth player the Rangers avoided an arbitration hearing with this summer, following new contracts for forward J.T. Miller and defenseman Dylan McIlrath .

The 25-year-old Kreider had 43 points (21 goals, 22 assists) in 79 games last season. The 21 goals matched his NHL career-high from the 2014-15 season. He also had two goals in five Stanley Cup Playoff games.

In four seasons with the Rangers, Kreider has 129 points (61 goals, 68 assists) and 224 penalty minutes in 248 regular-season games. He has 20 goals and 13 assists in 65 playoff games.

The 24-year-old Hayes had 36 points (14 goals, 22 assists) in 79 regular-season games last season and had no points in three Stanley Cup Playoff games.

In two seasons with the Rangers, Hayes has 81 points (31 goals, 50 assists) and 52 penalty minutes in 158 regular-season games. He also has two goals and five assists in 22 playoff games.
