New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) - New York Rangers left wing Rick Nash has scored a goal even without setting foot on the ice and on Christmas eve.

This, after the NHL awarded him the Rangers' final goal at 16:12 of the third period in their 4-2 win over the Washington Capitals Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.

With the move, Nash earned his first hat trick since Nov. 20, 2010 and his first as a Ranger. It was the sixth three-goal game of Nash's career, increasing his goal tally this season to 23.

The goal was originally credited to Martin St. Louis but after video review, the NHL ruled on Christmas eve that it should be given to Nash.

Since joining the Rangers over the summer of 2012, Nash has scored 70 goals, seventh-most in the league. His GPG average of .496 (70 goals, 141 GP) is third behind Alex Ovechkin and Steven Stamkos .

The hat trick put Nash on pace to break the franchise-record 54 goals set by Jaromir Jagr in 2005-06.

The Rangers will be seeking their eighth straight victory when they re-open Saturday night at the Garden against the downtrodden New Jersey Devils.
