Sunrise, FL, United States (4E Sports) - The Florida Panthers will miss the services of forward Nick Bjugstad for the season after he underwent successful back surgery.

"After consulting with Nick and thoroughly evaluating the extent of his injury, we mutually felt it was important to have this procedure done as soon as possible," Panthers GM Dale Tallon stated.

The 22-year-old has been playing hurt for the past month though he missed their last two games.

"He will be closely monitored by our medical staff during his rehabilitation process and will be ready for the start of training camp in September," Tallon said.

Bjugstad is playing in his second season and has 24 goals with 19 assists (43 points) in 72 games.
