Detroit, MI, United States (4E Sports) - Detroit Red Wings top prospect Anthony Mantha will be out 6-8 weeks with a fractured right tibia, suffered Monday during a game at the Traverse City Prospect Tournament.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound forward said that the puck was in the corner when he turned to his right and hit a crack in the ice that caused his foot to come back to the left when he bumped another.

That caused his knee to go sideways.

General manager Ken Holland said surgery is not needed and that he should be back up and running and skating in six weeks.

The 20th pick of the 2013 NHL Draft, the 20-year-old Mantha was bidding to become the first player to jump from junior hockey to the NHL for the Red Wings since 1999.
