New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) - The NHL suspended New York Rangers defenseman John Moore five games for a vicious elbow to the head of Minnesota Wild center Erik Haula Monday.

Moore was ejected at 7:12 into the second period from the Rangers' 5-4 win Monday while the impact of the elbow forced Haula out of the game.

Since Moore received less than a six-day suspension, it is not subject to appeal by a neutral arbitrator.

The 23-year-old defenseman is a repeat offender, having been banned two games for a hit on Dale Weise in the Eastern Conference finals against the Montreal Canadiens last spring.

He will forfeit $51,859.75, which will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
