Canucks close to inking center Brandon Sutter to multiyear deal

Vancouver, BC, Canada (4E Sports) - The Vancouver Canucks are close to signing center Brandon Sutter to a multiyear deal, possibly for five years at $4.4 million annually.

Sutter has one year remaining on his current contract, which has an average annual value of $3.3 million.

The Canucks acquired Sutter and a 2016 third-round pick from the Pittsburgh Penguins, Tuesday for forward Nick Bonino , defenseman Adam Clendening and a second-round pick in the 2016.

The 26-year-old Sutter had 21 goals and 12 assists in 80 games for the Penguins last season. He has 98 goals and 87 assists in 495 games between the Penguins and Carolina Hurricanes.
