Logan Couture sparks Sharks past Kings in Game 3

San Jose, CA, United States (4E Sports) - Logan Couture returned from a second period injury and scored a power-play goal 1:19 into overtime to lift the San Jose Sharks to a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings Saturday in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinal series at HP Pavilion.
Earlier, Logan slammed into the boards awkwardly after a battle with Jeff Carter. He limped off the ice and headed to the dressing room.
However, Logan returned with 1:33 left in the period and the game tied 1-1, giving his teammates an emotional boost, and most importantly the win that cut the Kings' lead in the best-of-seven series to 2-1.
Couture took a pass from Patrick Marleau in the slot and ripped San Jose's 40th shot of the night past goaltender Jonathan Quick. It was the 19th overtime game in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season and the fifth to be decided by a power-play goal.
"It was huge," defenseman Brad Stuart of Couture's return. "In my opinion, he's the leader of this team…To see him come back was huge. It was just a boost to the guys mentally if nothing else. And it's good to have him on the ice obviously."
Couture was not available for comment as he was getting treatment in the locker room but coach Todd McLellan expects him to play in Tuesday's Game 4.
"Based on the smile in the locker room, I assume he'll be fine," McLellan said.
Dan Boyle scored the other goal while Antti Niemi tallied 26 saves for the Sharks, who outshot the Kings, 40-27.
Jonathan Quick stopped 38 shots while Tyler Toffoli scored an unassisted goal for his first tally in the playoffs for the Kings.
The Sharks scored first when Boyle connected with a power-play goal at 1:34 of the first with assists from Patrick Marleau and Joe Pavelski.
The Kings answered with a tally from Toffoli, who capitalized on a turnover to beat Niemi on a backhander from the slot at 10:08.
After that, netminders stole the show as Quick and Niemi went save for save before Couture delivered his game-winning heroics in overtime.
