Montreal, QC, Canada (4E Sports) - The Montreal Canadiens agreed to a two-year deal with forward Alex Galchenyuk worth $5.6 million with an annual value of around $2.8 million.

Galchenyuk played in 80 regular season games last season and tallied career-highs scoring 20 goals with 26 assists for 46 points.

In three NHL seasons all with Montreal, the 21-year-old scored 104 points (42 goals, 62 assists).

Galchenyuk also had 22 playoff appearances with the Canadiens scoring 10 points (four goals, six assists).

"Alex is a young forward constantly improving and who has contributed to the success of the club since joining the NHL three seasons ago," Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin stated.

Bergevin believes Galchenyuk gained experience and shown maturity.

"Alex is an integral part of our core of forwards and we are confident in his ability to continue to improve his game," he added.
