Jackets' Foligno eager to suit up against Leafs

Columbus, OH, United States (4E Sports) - Columbus Blue Jackets left wing Nick Foligno will likely return when his team plays the Toronto Maple Leafs Friday.

He missed their 5-2 loss Tuesday to the Ottawa Senators because of a stiff neck sustained in a collision Sunday against the Los Angeles Kings.

Foligno knows the Blue Jackets, losers of three straight, are desperate for veteran players because they will miss the services of eight regulars against the Maple Leafs.

They lost centers Artem Anisimov and Mark Letestu and defenseman James Wisniewski to injuries in the Senators game.

Meanwhile, Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards said he had enough time to study the Maple Leafs' new top line of Joffrey Lupul, Nazem Kadri and Phil Kessel.

"I will look for a matchup early on and see how the matchup goes," Richards said.

Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle said it wasn't an easy decision to split Kessel from Tyler Bozak, who has been shifted to the second line.

Kessel had been on a line with Bozak for most of the past three seasons.
