Ottawa, ON, Canada (4E Sports) - An arbitrator awarded Ottawa Senators forward Mike Hoffman a one-year, $2 million contract Monday.

A hearing was held after the two sides came to a standoff when Hoffman requested a one-year, $3.4 million contract while the Senators offered a one-year, $1.75 million contract.

"I'm happy to get this process over with and I'm really looking forward to next season," said Hoffman, who had 27 goals and 48 points and was plus-16 in 79 games last season. He had one goal and three points in six Stanley Cup Playoff games.

The 25-year-old Hoffman said no bad feelings with the Ottawa front office were created as a result of the arbitration hearing and he's focused and ready for the season ahead.

"I still have a good relationship with management. There's no negativity on either end," he said. "Whatever the outcome was from arbitration wasn't going to change my approach for next season."

A fifth-round pick by Ottawa in the 2009 NHL Draft, Hoffman led the Senators in goals and was fifth in points during the 2014-15 season. He has 30 goals and 54 points in 108 NHL games.
