Isles' John Tavares nets four goals as Team Toews tops Team Foligno

Columbus, OH, United States (NewsBahn) - John Tavares netted four goals, Jakub Voracek scored three and a trio of other players had two tallies each as Team Toews topped Team Foligno 17-12 Sunday in the highest scoring NHL All Star Game on record.

Voracek also had three assists to tie a game record with six points.

Ryan Johansen of the host Columbus Blue Jackets had two goals and two assists for the losing team but was still voted game MVP by fans on Twitter.

Wayne Gretzky in 1983, Mario Lemieux , Vincent Damphousse , Mike Gartner and Dany Heatley previously had four goals in a game, while Lemieux also had six points.

The previous mark of 26 overall goals was scored in 2001.

It was 4-4 after one period, but Team Toews broke the game open with a 7-4 advantage in the second period.
