Chicago, IL, United States (4E Sports) - The Chicago Blackhawks will build a practice facility and community ice center across the United Center on area currently occupied by Malcolm X College.

The facility will be 125,000 square feet and will include two ice rinks. Construction is expected to begin next year and should be completed within two years.

Blackhawks chairman Rocky Wirtz had emphasized that 95 percent of the practice facility they will build would be allocated for community skating to promote hockey.

The Blackhawks currently practice at the United Center and Johnny's IceHouse West.

Malcolm X College is relocating to a nearby site, which will open next year.
