Montreal, QC, Canada (4E Sports) - The struggle is real for Tampa Bay Lightning captain and center Steven Stamkos who has failed to score a goal in their past nine gamesm dating back to their final outing in the regular season.

The last time Stamkos had a similar drought was in his rookie season from December 2-26, 2008 for 11 games.

Despite the slump, the Lightning find ways to win and are now on the second round of the playoffs against the Montreal Canadiens .

Tampa Bay took Game 1 with Stamkos still not scoring a goal in a 2-1 double-overtime victory.

Despite the loss, the Habs remained positive with their defense on Stamkos shutting him down and hope to continue with it in Game 2.

"You look at the stat sheet and you see Stamkos didn't have a goal, but at the same time that's the guy you're really worried about," Canadiens forward Devante Smith-Pelly said.

"If he gets one, chances are it's going to snowball the wrong way for us. We did a good job and we're going to continue to play hard on all their guys," he added.

Canadiens center Tomas Plekanec said they have no specific defensive scheme for Stamkos but it helps to know where he is especially when finding his spot for a shot.

"But again, it's not like you're thinking about it 100 percent. You know, you're aware," he added.

Their series resumes Sunday for Game 2 n Montreal before it shifts to Tampa Bay for Games 3 and 4.
