Buffalo, NY, United States (4E Sports) - The Buffalo Sabres introduced Dan Bylsma as its new coach Thursday, replacing the fired Ted Nolan.

Bylsma , who led the Pittsburgh Penguins to the 2009 Stanley Cup, wants to impart a winning culture with the Sabres .

He coached the Penguins to a 252-117-32 record from 2009 to 2014, where they made the playoffs in each of those seasons.

Sabres general manager Tim Murray described Bylsma as a winner who knows what it takes to get there and how to communicate.

Under Nolan, the Sabres were the NHL's 30th-place team in each of the past two seasons when they posted a record of 40-87-17.

The Sabres are set to rebuild around forwards Sam Reinhart and Tyler Ennis and defensemen Rasmus Ristolainen and Nikita Zadorov .

The Penguins will receive a third-round pick from the Sabres in the 2016 NHL Draft.
