This one is a no-brainer, c'mon guys and gals.

Dwayne Roloson, check the stats, check the injuries on his team and most of all check with the Leafs !!
Awesome One Posted - 10/27/2010 : 14:52:48
Probably Rinne, Preds are nowhere without him
Beans15 Posted - 10/27/2010 : 13:56:56
Last I heard Emery was still recovering from hip surgery last season. He is a FA and not playing anywhere and there was a good chance the injury would end his career.
nuxfan Posted - 10/27/2010 : 12:47:11
toxxik - I figured you were.

I was serious though - where IS Emery right now? Is he playing anywhere, in someone's farm system?

It looks like Anderson has gone down for COL for an indefinate period of time, TB's goaltending is pretty much sucking... I'm surprised that no one has given him a call.
ToXXiK1 Posted - 10/27/2010 : 11:14:28
LOL
Was meant as a joke. I think he falls into the most overrated goalie. I think I seen him at my nefew's peewee game between the pipes !
nuxfan Posted - 10/27/2010 : 10:10:36
I think to be underrated you have to actually be playing in the NHL, this year, and be doing well despite people thinking you won't. Where is Emery right now?
ToXXiK1 Posted - 10/27/2010 : 10:02:11
How about Ray "can't follow the rules" Emery?

I'm tipping my hat to Lehtonen on this one. He had slipped right off the map for most people I know before this season, and has been performing very very well with Dallas.

Pekka Rinne has been picked up in every pool I've been in for the last two seasons (and none of my pools are particuarily deep). So no I don't really see him as under-rated.

Tomas Vokoun easily is a top 10 goalie, but his top end stats can't carry a team like like Florida for an entire season. He's a perfect example of how the team you play for can really throw off your value.

Bryzgalov was the third goalie picked over all in 2 of my pools this year, behind only Brodeur and Miller/ Luongo. Not under-rated anymore.

The arena wall in chicago should be credited with a goal.
Guest4412 Posted - 10/26/2010 : 23:44:53
Probably Brodeur.

How about Chris Osgood?

See thread on "worst goalie to win the cup". Osgood is featured prominently.
top cheese Posted - 10/26/2010 : 22:27:28
i'm just kidding, I voted for someone whose name rhymes with Smekka SMenne.

someone mistaken for Pierce Brosman one time, turns out they were [Mod Edit - Inappropriate Comment] but still a nice compliment

How about Chris Osgood? If he had more of a chance to play, I'm sure he'd get his game back. And isn't it all about a goalie's ability to play in the playoffs?
Does any goalie have as many wins in the playoffs in the last 3 years as Ozzie? And he didn't even play last year.
Osgood is the only goalie who can win a Cup and the next year come within one game of the Cup and still get criticized. It made me sick to read that Jimmy Howard should finally give the Wings the solid goaltending they need.
Osgood has benefitted from playing for a good team but so has Brodeur, Fleury and many others and nobody would ever doubt Brodeur.

Well, guest 8416, thanks for your insight and setting me straight.
Any facts or credibility to go with you incredible hockey knowledge or is that it? Do you have a goalie in mind? Or you just troll the boards and input your 2 cents?

Lol, well besides Kari, id have to go with Rinne. He plays on a team that has trouble scoring. Only team in the west to finish without more GF than against last year and make the playoffs. Only team without a regulation loss to start the year as well. With help from Lindback of course

I would agree with people who say that Bryzgalov and Vokoun have been underrated in the past . . . but for the smart and savvy commenters on this site, I wouldn't say so . That being said, I would say Vokoun is probably my all-time most underrated goalie, sure.

My vote right now goes to Turco.

I especially remember how well he played in the playoffs, with teams that just couldn't score . . . only goalie (if memory serves me correctly) to get three shutouts and lose a playoff series says it all. And he's never received any accolades for solid, consistent, play . . . and as soon as he his play slipped even a little bit for a short time, people were ready to throw him to the wolves.

He won't be in this category for long though, I predict a monster season for Marty Turco this year with an A defence in front of him. It really is amazing what a very good defensive corps will do for a goalie's save % . . . you'd think they couldn't be related, but they really are.

Rask lost his second game out and, who knows......... TT is looking good, as unorthadox as his play is.

But little do you know, Thomas isn't good. Hes second to rask, and worthless to many.
Guest9492 Posted - 10/26/2010 : 08:59:47
Kari Lehtonen

Has been plagged with injuries his whole career. Was a former 2nd overall pick. Big goalie lots of talent. Gives the Stars a good chance to win every night. With the combination of Dallas continuing to score and Lehtonen behind the pipes. Dallas will rebound and make the playoffs.

Really it's another poll based on a matter of opinion. While i agree with the Vokoun hype, i would NEVER consider him under rated. Why? Because he'd be in my top 6-8 goalies if i ranked them.

(Yes, that was a shot at all the Schneider love out there these days).

One goalie who gets little of any credit for his chops is Tomas Vokoun. Rarely does he hit anyone's top 10 in the league list but the guy has stood on his head for the past 10 years. He's spent his entire career on teams that have made the playoffs only twice and he's still put up a handful of 30+ win seasons. Plus, he has a GAA of right around 2.5 and a save% of .916 in nearly 600 career games.

Seriously, put him on a contending team and he is know as one of the best in the NHL. I think he is the most under rated or maybe a better way to say it is under appreciated goalie in the NHL.

Agreed Vokoun is deffinetly top 6 in the league

guest, I'm pretty sure that Bryzgalov is no longer underrated...

I went with Lehtonen

I voted for Rinne. If he starts 70+ games this year he will get around 40 wins. His career stats so far are pretty damn good. All for a guy drafted 258th overall in the 8th round.
