There may be some issues in my pool because I picked Buttfugly as one of my defencemen during the draft. As far as I can tell he hasn't played as a forward 5-5, nor has he played as a forward on the PP, but I could be wrong. Anybody know?

Ya he be a "D"man for sure. Last night saw on the highlights, he gives his stick to his goalie, then picks up the goalie stick and skates with it. I think he got called for it. Can't play with a goalie stick...tsk tsk.

Indeed. Dustin Byfuglien has been playing "D" all season long. Especially, 5-on-5.

He may move in front of the net on the Power Play, but, that should not matter in your pool. He's a d-man this year, and is playing that position.

Thank god the highlight showed him score from the point from the faceoff last night. I'm pretty sure the problem may be over in my pool now.

Hey thanks for all you input guys!

he's been playing D pretty much all the time, do believe they may put him in front on the PP, but, Chicago did that also

Not an issue so far. He has not played any position but D in any game this year. The reason that he is scoring so much is that he is a good player who is playing well.

So, i just finished watching the highlites of the Atlanta game tonight. Couldn't tell on his assist tonight, but on his goal, Buffy was at the point on a draw at 5 on 5. Def was playind D at that point!

I had heard he was playing D in Atlanta too, but i find it hard to believe he'd be putting up those numbers if that's the case. I don't have the NHL package, therefore i obviously don't see a lot of Atl games!!!

I'm in a pool that does that too, 2 pts for Dmen goals. Back in the day, there were a few others who got bumped up to fwd from the back end and we always left them as D? Dunno about Buffy, but we have a redraft where we can drop 1 and pick up another. I'm guessing it'll be discussed soon because last place gets to go first, i'm guessing they'll be targetting him?

Yes, Byfuglien is a bit of an enigma. For pool purposes we label him in the system in the position the NHL.com labels him. Currently this is in the Defensive position. If the NHL changed his position, so would we.

However, your pool administrator can override the system by just changing his point category for your pool. Note that it is a pool wide override, meaning that if your pool admin changed his position then it will recalculate all of his points based on the new scoring category (ie: forward scoring settings)

If you want more information just have your pool administrator email support @ pickuphockey.com.

Cheers!

Our D get 2 points per goal so some may feel I have an unfair advantage using Buffy. I don't see it as a problem unless he steps into the circle as a winger. Otherwise it's really no different than the D pinching in on the play.

unsure - ATL said that he would start on defense, and hasn't said anything else. As dmen sometimes play in front of the net on the PP, its hard to say if he's playing as a "forward" or as a "defenseman" in that regard.

Curious - why is it an issue with your pool?

Big Buf has become quite a valuable commodity in Yahoo pools, he is the only player joint positioned at D and RW, and is scoring nearly PPG at this point in the season.
