Definitely think Datsyuk is in a class by himself....the takeaways over his career are incredible. As for the next best, I can't believe more people haven't discussed Richards! The guy is the complete player in every way. Even when you consider the intangibles like competitiveness, grit and leadership. You can also same similar things about Toews. The real discussion will start once Pavel hangs them up!

Yea,

You can tell that he knows what he is doing. Pavel just made him foolish at the start. By the end, Pavel wasn't able to move as freely around him.

I would still Argue Datsyuk is the best offensive Two Way player, And best at Take aways no doubt but I believe Malhotra is the best Two Way player he would be my #1 offensive PK man over Datsyuk.
Then again Malhotra is more like a one way player in the defensive zone

Would you please make sense? You just contradicted yourself in the same post!

Why would Datsyuk need to block a shot and risk getting hurt? Remember he is so good he doesn't need to block the shot, the stops you from ever taking it and then scores on you.

That's like saying Lidstrom is not a good defensemen because he doesn't throw a mean body check.

Did i ever say anything about Datsyuk not being a good Two-WAy player, infact I recall calling him great, Lindstrom isn't the Best D-Man because he can't throw a big hit, as much as I like to think Mike Green is the best Defensman (He is the best Two Way Defensman ) Weber is obviously the best defensman because he can do every thing but leadership better then lindstrom.
If you don't Contridict yourself your mind is BORING

Richards is a way better two-way specialist than Draper, if he was on this poll, the results would be a whole lot different!

There was once a license plate in Toronto that abbreviated "Go Leafs" it read "Golfs".

I voted Datsyuk, but no question that Carter and Mike Richards should be included in this poll as well.

I would say Datsyuk as well.

Here's a clip of him playing keep away with FSN reporter Trevor Thompson.
Poor Trevor didn't stand a chance.

I had the privilege to watch a Detroit practice at GM place and was blown away by the effort these guys put in!! There's never a slack moment I saw a player carrying the puck after a drill and Zetterburg out of nowhere chased him down took the puck then had to fight off Datsyuk who had chased him down. It was like this the whole practice. That night these guys smothered the Canucks. Datsyuk won most of these battles in practice as well as the game. He is the best no question....

Datsyuk because he's better defensivly and i love his hands on offence.

I think we had this poll about 6 months ago, during awards season. Datsyuk was the winner then, and is still the winner now.

The guy leads the league -- by huge margins -- in Takeaways. Some years he's more than 50% higher than second place.

That's the thing about Datsyuk though, he can put up big numbers offensively without sacrificing his defensive skills! The guy is always at the top off the list as far as +/-, take aways, etc.

My pick is Datsyuk. Very smart player at both ends of the ice.

My pick for the future is James Neal (Dallas). Next time you get to see Dallas play, watch this guy. He's very impressive – a smart two-way hockey player.

He's only 23 years old, and he's currently averaging a point a game. (19 points in 18 games, with 15 of those points at even strength.) His plus/minus is impressive too: +11, which currently puts him in 14th place in the NHL.

Patrice Bergeron.

Much as I love Toews, he is a distant second to Datsyuk. While I hate giving the nod to a division rival, there is no denying that Dats is practically the ideal Forward.

He's smart, knows the ice, knows himself, and can still be really flashy when he needs to be.

Any team would want this guy, and any team with him is instantly better.

The arena wall in chicago should be credited with a goal.

Pavol Datsyuk is perhaps the best. Others include teammate Zetterberg, Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, and a few others.

Tough choice between Toews and Datsyuk.

For now I'll give the edge to Datsyuk, in a few years it will surely be Toews.

There was once a license plate in Toronto that abbreviated "Go Leafs" it read "Golfs".
Guest0076 Posted - 11/21/2010 : 18:45:33
There's a reason why Dats has won the Selke 3 years straight. He is brilliant in both ends. He can skate through an entire team and kill you with offensive skill. He's also the first guy back when the play goes the other way, he'll steal the puck and be halfway up the ice before you know what happened. Possibly the most well rounded player in the league.

Other Option?
