no you just get points from trade date on.

You have a real tough choice, when you trade in your pool, do you get the player's points from before he was on your team?

There was once a license plate in Toronto that abbreviated "Go Leafs" it read "Golfs".

thanks for the input guys... i'm sure i'll be fine.

I wouldn't take the risk on a 3 player trade in a hockey pool.

Can you put who all is on your team? Then I will give you an opinion

I agree with nuxfan and Beans. It's prob not catastrophic but in the long run, you may regret it? However, if it helps you win the season and you can replace guys here and there, so be it. Maybe you'll be fine. You just never know, Loui could become a 100pt guy for all we know? Perry could blow his knee out? Who knows, that's the fun in a keeper league, you're much more like a real GM than you are a "fantasy" player. Good luck either way!

Personally, I would have not made he deal based on my reasoning listed above. As Nuxfan pointed out, what happens when Richards leaves???

It's a pretty close trade. It's not like either side is losing much at all. It's a really close trade.
nuxfan Posted - 12/02/2010 : 13:37:22
well, hope it works out, but I think you got the short end of that stick in the long run.

What happens to your line in DAL next year when Richards leaves? How does Eriksson's (and Neal's) production suffer without him, and probably without a worthwhile replacement? I think your trading partner was thinking about that.

I also don't think highly of JBo's long term prospects, Kaberle is going to be better for points after this year. JBo will continue to log big minutes and put up small points in CGY.

Zetterberg is decent, but his production has slipped a bit since his all-time best season a few years ago. I think he's good for 75 a year, but I don't think he'll hit 90 again. So if you were picking him up looking for a return to 40g/90pt campaigns, be prepared to maybe never see that. He's getting older, not younger.

i already made the deal a month ago and its working out fine so far, i'm the one that got le, hz and jb in exchange for cp, pk and tk.

i did it to form a full line in dallas, i already have richards and neil and i did the the math on the age of the players and i'm only giveing up 2 years combind. i understand that cory perry is awesome and that phil kessel does have a chance to get better givein he get someone to play with. but i did the deal to win now. knowing that i can grab furture talant to replace the youth i lost in the deal.

so yall think i messed up eh?

I'd take the Perry / Kessel / Kaberle side in a heartbeat. Totally agree that Eriksson, while very good, is not enough to swing the balance in this trade. Kessel needs a center, simple as that. IF they ever get him one, he's likely a 35-35 kind of player. Yes, Eriksson is prob good for 80ish but he and Kessel over the next 10 years are prob much closer than what Perry and Z are. Keep in mind, Z's in his 30's and has missed on avg approx 10 games per season in his past 5.

Kaberle / Boumeester is pretty even though a change of scenery for Kaberle could also mean more points. He could be a stud on the point for a team with some offense!

ha, good catch Beans - I was posting about Ribeiro in another forum, I think I got him mixed in here, no wonder this deal looked so lopsided this morning

Loui Eriksson is indeed young and promising. He may still have peaked last year (I don't know if his current pace is due to DAL currently overperforming or not, I don't think he'll end the year at 88 points), but he's probably still good for 70 pts a year for a few years yet. I also think that Kessel is good for more than he's getting this year - TOR is sucking right now, when they get better he will also get better.

I agree though, the real kicker is Perry. There are very few players that would pry Perry from me in a keeper league, and Zetterberg is not one of them.
Beans15 Posted - 12/02/2010 : 09:51:24
Eriksson peaked?? He's gone from 19 pts, to 31, to 63, to 71 last season, he is on pace for 88 this season. He is one the elite scoring players in the NHL today.

If I am picking a player, I am talking Eriksson over Kessel based on both being on weaker teams but Eriksson proving to be getting better and better every season. I think Kessel has peaked. I think Kessel will always be in the 30-40 goal range but I see his top end being around 70 points. Eriksson has 100 pt potential.

The kicker of the deal is Perry. I would not give him up for Zetterburg. Perry is a PPG guy and I think has just the slightest of edges production wise over Zetterburg. However, Perry being 5 yrs younger in the kicker in the keeper draft.

Even though Bouwmeester is a few years younger than Kaberle, he doesn't have nearly the production ability.

It's too big of a value change to pick up Eriksson. The difference between Kessel and Eriksson is not big enough to drop Perry and Kaberle.

Don't make the deal.

Wait, what players do you have??? Do you have Perry, Kessel, and Kaberle or do you have a chance to get them???

I would want the combo of Perry, Kessel, and Kaberle.
nuxfan Posted - 12/02/2010 : 08:33:15
if this is a keeper pool, then I would definitely not give up Perry or Kessel. Both very young with lots of very productive years in front of them. Both pure goal scorers that get siginficant time on the PP so you should get lots of those points.

Zetterberg is good, but I can't help but wonder if Eriksson peaked last year. JBo is just not getting it done in CGY, and he's gonna be there for a long time.

I think you're better off with Kessel and Perry - they've gotten you to first so far, why tinker with something that works?
Guest4967 Posted - 12/02/2010 : 02:27:01
it's a keeper pool, points are 1 for goal, 1 for assist, 2 for pp and sh goal. i all ready had brad richards and james neil.

the thing is , i entered the pool three years into it and was limited to the players i could pick.. i'm tied for first, i'm not scared to give up some youth for some sure points. i already have young players lined up for next year.... that i wroght about in a form called young nhl.
nuxfan Posted - 12/01/2010 : 21:15:52
what are the point parameters in your hockey pool? Extra points for goals, extra for PP? Or straight up 1-for-1?

I would not make that trade myself.
top cheese Posted - 12/01/2010 : 20:57:39
do it now!!!!
Utemin Posted - 12/01/2010 : 15:16:53
Is this for a hockey pool?
if not I would because I think Zetterberg and Perry are equal, Erikson is better than Kessel, and Bouwmeestier is better then Kabrle.

However Perry and Kessel are very young players on team 1 while Erikson is the only young player on team 2. Depends if you want a cup in 2 years or in 5. None the less I would get rid of Kabrle he is past his Career and by the time the others have developed he would be retired.
