I think Daniel Sedin will probably win the Hart this season, another trophy for which we will not likely see multiple winners in the next decade. Gretzky won the Hart 9 times, and while Lemieux only won it 3 times, I don't think we will see anyone win this award three or more times in the next 10 years.

Not surprisingly, Gretzky leads the four major sports (including MLB, NFL and NBA) in winning the most number of MVP awards. Interestingly, Barry Bonds has the second most MVP awards at seven, but in baseball, there are two winners each season (National and American leagues), and on top of that, Bonds' awards appear to be tainted.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was MVP six times (the most in the NBA), and Peyton Manning has the most MVP awards (four) in the NFL.

Sorry for all the non-hockey references, but for Gretzky to win the Hart 9 times is another one of his records which will likely never be broken.

Is this a spelling lesson or a hockey discussion site? People, please do your best to use proper grammar and spelling. Other people, if you get the point someone is trying to make than great. If you don't get the point, ask the question. Leave your critics at the door.

To the point at hand. Gretzky did own the award for nearly a decade. It really is pretty sick considering that in the time of the most offense in NHL history that Gretzky has some pretty stiff offensive competition. Guys like Lemieux, Savard, Stastny, Jagr, Yzerman, Messier et al could not even hold a candle to what Gretzky was doing. In his prime (much like Orr and Howe in their prime) he really didn't have anyone close to an equal.

That being said, I doubt that anyone will have a streak like Gretzky did or will win that many. However, I can see a group of 3-4 players own the Hart for the next 10 years if healthy. Crosby already has one Hart, Ovechkin has 2. It is not hard to believe that both of those guys will win 8 out of the next 10 themselves. That is, if they are healthy.

FER....is it just me, or do you find yourself wondering how anyone could possibly butcher a sentence so poorly without actually trying? I mean, let's look at it here.....

Tim thomas well win the Heart this yr.. The sedin Sister's can take a Back seat to the Best goalie in the NHL rite know...

I've "redded" (lol, is that acceptable?) the mistakes that i can find. "Sister's" i suppose could be capitalized if it was meant to be a name?

Regardless, the capitalization of random words is the part which confuses me the most.

Spelling, grammar, capitalization, overall content and validity, all wrong!

You are the weakest link! Good-bye!

Crosby will be 24 years old this year – not old by any means – but Gretzky already had six Hart Trophies at 24 years of age!

I agree that Crosby is the top player in the game, but he has company. Stamkos and Ovechkin are close, and the Sedins have to be considered as well.

And it's important to note that Crosby plays the game very physically, and in an NHL which is more dangerous (and prone to players being injured) than I can remember.

It's very hard to be the league MVP. Aside from Gretzky, only two players have won the Hart more than three times: Eddie Shore and Gordie Howe, and that was a long time ago!

I'll agree with Statman on this one, and also add to it that Stamkos definitely has the skills to be a Hart winner in successive years.

Though I'm not sure I see anyone breaking Wayne's record, I have to disagree with your statement that we won't see anyone win it three or more times in the next decade. It seems like you are forgetting that Sidney Crosby was making a joke out of the Hart Trophy race until he got injured. As good as the Sedins and Ovi are (as well as a few others), he is still head and shoulders above everybody else, in my opinion.
