Posted - 03/30/2011 : 22:44:09 So it's been mentioned that Zach Parise is due back any day now, in fact, there was a rumour floating about the other day that he may play tonight. Well, he didn't dress for tonights game but i'm wondering what everyone thinks of him coming back this late in a season in which his team is all but eliminated from playoff contention? They're not mathematically out, but within a point or so of being out. For all intents and purposes, they're done!
Is it really worth him coming back for 5 or so games? I'm of the opinion that he should sit the rest out and allow himself to heal, strengthen, etc through till next season before getting into game situations.

When you say Keith, do you mean Duncan Keith? I would keep Ketih over both Goli and Myers. Parise is definitely one of the forwards you keep. No doubt about it. I mean would you cut Malkin? I would wait on Eriksson since his points are dependent on Richards. If Richards re-signs, keep him. If not I'd take Vanek over Eriksson. Same can be said for Goligoski. Starting goalies are rare, keep him
Your keepers should be Sedin, Parise, Carter, Vanek (assuming B. Richards does not re-sign with Dallas), D. Keith and Niemi. |

Posted - 04/01/2011 : 09:10:46 Slozo, imo, it's a no brainer to keep Parise. I love what Kulemin's done (actually have him in one of my pools) but i'd let him go before Parise (and Vanek would go too). I guess it all depends on your pool though. It's obviously a keeper pool, right? But can you pick guys up later? If you drop Parise, he's gonna get snatched up immediately. Kulemin, prob not quite as quickly whereby you may get a shot at getting him back?
I could be way off on the style of pool you're in and all this may make now sense though? |

Posted - 04/01/2011 : 06:00:40 Parise was my #1 pick in my draft this year - yes, that hurt. Especially now, as I have climbed into third place, and if I had had a healthy Parise, he'd have knocked out the bottom forward into the "extras" category . . .
Now I have to evaluate whether I keep Parise as one of my top 6 players or not after he just killed my last season. Tough call, when I have Daniel Sedin, Jeff Carter, Eriksson, Goligoski, Keith, Myers, Niemi, Havlat, Kulemin and Vanek. I never thought I'd be thinking about a Leafer as one of 6 "keepers", but at this point, tough for me to let go of Kulemin.

It's a tough call after such a major injury, frankly. I'll be evaluating Parise closely.

Posted - 04/01/2011 : 05:18:09 Tell me about it! My top 3 picks (Malkin, Parise, Spezza) have COMBINED for 91 points, ouch!
Parise coming back this late in the season with the Devils not in the play-off race is interesting to say the least...I think i would have to lean towards Alex's train of thought. |

It never hurts to get a hockey player back into the game at any time. With nothing to play for there is no pressure on him to do anything immediately, so he can skate and play and just get back into hockey again. |
