What's the argument for him not being suspended though, apart from, he's a superstar and it's the playoffs

I don't care if Richards is a 3rd/4th liner, i just didn't think the hit was worthy of a suspension. It's just unfortunate that Connolly ducked his head down like he did, which ultimately is what caused the injury. I thought it was deserving of a minor penalty, and think the league made the right call.

This is the game i'm most looking forward to tonight, hopefully it's as entertaining as game #6 was! What a great night of hockey we have ahead of us!!

YEAH! Well said! It's so obvious, cuz there's no way Buffalo could win it right? I mean, the series is currently 6-0 Philly, right???

Definetly philidelphia got this series

Buffalo 4-3 in OT.

Yeah, Pronger has been a non-factor thus far . . . but I think he will summon every last ounce of effort and play through the pain and make some kind of impact in this game 7.

I also look to Briere, he is such a big game player. Roy is supposed to come back for Buffalo, so that will be a morale boost, not sure if it will help them on the scoreboard, however.

If Boucher plays solid like I think he might, Philly wins this running away. But therein lies the question . . . will Philly's goaltending hold up?

I say Philly 4 - Buffalo 2 in a tightly played, close contest with a couple of late goals.

Pronger was basically brought on for PP only. Hence the TOI and the number of shifts. Philly announced he would not return for the entire series but when the series was on the line the story changed.

He didn't appear to be impactful in my opinion.
Alex116 Posted - 04/25/2011 : 14:08:17
Anyone who saw the last game, i'm wondering if Pronger reinjured himself or was he just not able to play? Says in the stats that he only played 5 shifts?

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Ok I just watched it again, that is too dirty not to suspend him for, richards pushes him like 2 feet then slams him head into the boards
Cooke would get 20 games

As to the Richards hit - should probably be a one game suspension . . . but it's Mike Richards, going into game 7 . . . I don't see it. This is where they leave the rulebook and enter the reality of "star treatment".

I'd say it's suspendable, but whether the league does so or not??? All bets are off. The NHL is far too unpredictable!!

1 game min, and what a huge 1 game it would be!
nuxfan Posted - 04/24/2011 : 22:59:45
he is deserving of a suspension, he very clearly pushes Connoly head first into the boards from a vulnerable area. This hit is as bad or worse than the Stoll hit in game 1 of the LA/SJ series that garnered him a game suspension.

Question is, will they do it? Will they suspend the captain of a team and one of the bright young stars that the NHL is so eager to market for game 7 of a playoff series? I will be interested to see what happens.

I;m a huge Flyer fan. Curious to hear other people's opinions of the Richards hit. Is he deserving of a suspension?
ryan93 Posted - 04/24/2011 : 17:13:14
Great game today, one of the most entertaining games i've seen this year.

Richards should've been kicked out

What an exciting game to watch, and a fantastic game. Pond hockey at its finest, and this has really turned into a barn-burner of a series, maybe now the most exciting so far unless Vancouver/Chicago gets a closer score tonight.

Terrible coaching call to put in Leighton, IMHO, but in the end, it will be Boucher in game 7 (has to now) - and this was the right call to begin with, I thought. Boucher played well, especially in the last 5 minutes and OT, a few key/series saving saves.

Looking forward to game 7!

Buffalo was a team I thought had the potential to go deep, because all you need is a hot goalie and they have that in Miller. They are why I didnt pick one Flyer in my pool

Crushing loss for Philly, after they came back so strong.

They could certainly dominate and win the next two, but . . . yeah, the goaltending as always is an issue. I am regretting picking so many Flyers now.

If the Sabres can close out the series, then you should be in good shape!

Only one of my pools was a draft style, and i felt very good about me team when i left the draft that night. I used my last 3 picks on Prospal, Stepan & Frolik...but i expected the rest of my picks to all make it to the 2nd round. Well now the majority of them are on the brink of elimination...Philadelphia (Giroux, Briere, Van Riemsdyk, Carle), Anaheim (Ryan, Koivu). There's a good chance i'm only going to have J.Staal, Neal, and D.Boyle moving on!

The Flyers were my pick to win the Eastern Conference, but i guess it shouldn't be seen as a huge shock that the Sabres up ahead 3-2 in the series. The Flyers were just an average team the last few months of the season, and had struggled with the absense of Chris Pronger down the stretch. Sergei Bobrovsky also struggled down the stretch, and goaltending as always was a question mark. Where as in the Sabres you have one of the best goaltenders in the world in Ryan Miller, and also one of the hottest teams in the league to close out the regular season. The series isn't over yet though, so i'm hoping the Flyers can find a way to get it done!
The Duke Posted - 04/22/2011 : 20:15:34
I played 2 hockey pools this year, 1 draft with my friends and 1 pretty big but local in my area. I`ve got 5 Buffalo players on each pool...hope they get past the Flyers or my pools are toast.

The Sabres were hot pre - playoffs and their goalie is world class...this has the ingredients for another 2006 Carolina team, although the 2006 Hurricanes were much deeper than the Sabres are right now, who knows.
Guest4241 Posted - 04/22/2011 : 19:47:40
Philly's goaltending is going to kill them. It's been killing them for near 15 years. When they added a guy like Versteeg, a good depth move, they should have given up that 3rd line help for a goalie. Michael Leighton only allowed one goal after relieving Boucher in the OT loss tonight, but certainly did not comfortable. Who starts game 6? Chechmanek? Hindsight is 20/20, but maybe there should have been some more thought given on how to deal with your 55 game stud Brobovsky after he was pulled, or whether to pull him at all. As we saw, he went from # 1 to press box in 2 games. Is he hurt?

I think buffalo will shut it down

3-2 now,
I have a feeling buffalo is going to crack
ryan93 Posted - 04/22/2011 : 17:24:11
Looks like the Flyers could be in trouble. They are losing 3-0 to Buffalo tonight, and are on the verge of going down 3 games to 2, with game 6 back in Buffalo.

As always with Philly, goaltending is proving to be a problem. 2 of the 3 goals they've given up tonight should have been stopped, and they have already used 3 different goalies in the series!

edit*
Perhaps i spoke too early, the Flyers have come out flying in the 2nd period!

Last night was a great game to watch, so after the Canucks finish off the Hawks, this might be the most exciting hockey to watch at that point.

Miller played outstanding, I thought, despite the loss. It could have easily been 6 or 7 goals for Philly.

Buffalo has been hot...the Flyers certainly are not !!! gonna be interesting. Can Ryan Miller do it ? surely got a shot.
