Yes Toxx, Gilmour did indeed head butt McSorley, forgot about that, it was a long time ago. I can`t say if it was the same game as the non - call on Gretzky...but it did happen.

right, but, there still was a game 7 that they lost also.
A friend of mine sent me this:

For everyone still whining about Gilmour getting clipped in 1993: Earlier in the same game, Gilmour threw a head butt at McSorley behind the King's net after the whistle. Made contact with Marty's chin. That should be a major, automatic match penalty (meaning out of the game.) Complain about the Gretzky no-call if you want, but going by the rulebook, Gilmour should have in the dressing room already by that point

Any truth to it? I didn't see anything but highlights when this game was played.

In 1993's reference to Gretzky, was that not game 6? Was there not a game 7? I understand the missed call, but the call doesn't mean Toronto wins, they'd still have to score.
The Duke Posted - 04/28/2011 : 16:47:41
I don`t care what anyone sez...Amercian based teams get more favoritism from the refs than Canadian based teams. I`ve noticed it for years and no - one will change my mind on this.

Calgary was treated brutal for 2 - 3 years with those battles againist Detroit during the playoffs, especially the games played in Detroit.

Gretzkys high stick on Gilmour, 1993...would have finished LA.

T. Lindens toe of his skate in the blue ice ( which wasn`t in the blue ice ), 1994....should have been Vancouvers first cup.

Vancouver doubled Chicago this year in minor penalities didn`t they ?...thought i read it some where.

The list is endless

Kudos to the Habs, they gave us more than we could handle. What a freekin' bullet shot from Subban! 0 for 22 on the PP is gonna kill us. If the Bruins could stay out of the box, I think this series would've been over 2 games ago. Habs never quit, 2 PP goals and a shortie? OMG I was freeking out!!! 11am today, the book will be thrown at (and rightly so) Ference for that extreme cheapshot. Lucic finally did something, Horton's great shot, all I can say is this series deffinately didn't dissappoint.
Pasty, black n' gold suits you, maybe you should consider..... nah, nevermind!

When you say:
they gave us more than we could handle
I'm assuming "we" includes the refs too... hence, yes, you made a valid point.
Alex116 Posted - 04/28/2011 : 10:38:31
I know there were prob some calls missed in Montreal's favour last night, but there HAD to be more the other way! Aside from Ference's cheap shot, there were two highsticks on the go ahead goal in the 3rd. First, the puck is knocked out of the air by a high stick, then the fwd barrels into Hamrlik and his stick gets him right in the throat? Was that on a follow through and is allowed, or was is simply missed? How about Marchand throwing down PK Subban with a suplex or body slam or whatever WWE move that was??? I know it was 3rd period of game 7 and all, but wow, there were some serious non calls. I'm sure Montreal is sounding a lot like Vancouver after game 6 of their series?
n/a Posted - 04/28/2011 : 05:25:47
Brutal reffing, brutal everything in this series, and it all pointed to a huge Boston bias.

Lucic should not have been playing, should have been suspended.
That cheap shot - a HEADSHOT - in the third would have put the Habs on the pp, at a time when Boston actually scored at even strength.

If penalties and suspensions had been doled out appropriately, Montreal wins - it's as clear as day to me.

merde.

Wow....great series! Two very different teams, but made for good hockey! That Subban goal to tie it was an absolute cannon! I'd love to have seen the radar gun on that!

The Bruins are in a similar spot to the Canucks in that they need their top line to start playing like a top line or they could find round 2 to be equally difficult!

that is a tough loss, especially after MTL battled back more than once. Now I know how CHI fans must have felt yesterday...

Credit him for immediately admitting his error and saying something to the Habs. Not really much he could do though, he was in postition, Thomas looked like he'd frozen it (wasn't looking around as though it was loose) and they're taught to blow it dead to avoid the crease crashing, etc. Bad break, luckily it didn't cost them in the end!

Interesting they're playing game 7 tonight with no rest day? Don't see much of that anymore!

i was having a few beers at a local pub watching the game and i think the entire bar was swearing and yelling at the tv screen when that happend including myself, like you said i'm really glad karma worked out in that game,, and also glad Spacek is ok

"I led the league in "Go get 'em next time." - Bob Uecker

Alex, the reason why there's 2 games in 2 days is simply because Lady Caca (or gaga) was doing a show at bell centre monday night and they couldn't move her so they had a 2 day break (sunday and monday) and now plays 2 games in a row.

As for the blown call, i've heard some pretty ugly stuff in the crowd when it happened. Swearing, insulting, death treatening words etc... and lots of objects were thrown on the ice too.

Also glad that Spacek is right and Lucic didn't deserve any suspension, jsut a quick play where he couldn't do much!

Damm i also love Paul Mara's beard, it's massive! and red!!

hopefully habs wins tonight!!!

there is no way to call it really everything is a guess really,, like you said tox all the games could have gone either way even when Boston won 3 straight the habs were right there in all of those games,, and last night so lets face it the Bruins could have won as easily as the habs,, so for tonight i will hope and pray and if you want my prediction well flip a coin......

Putting my perfect record for predictions on the line from yesterday, this is just as tough as the Pittsburgh/TB game to predict . . . real tough. But I am going to go with the goalies I like better at this moment, and that is Price over Thomas. I think Boston has played very, very tight at home - as in, holding sticks too tight - and I really don't have any gamebreakers for Boston coming up for me, going by the series. On the other hand, Cammalleri and Gionta will be there, and the way Price has played this year, he will be certain to have a decent game at the very least, I'd think.

4-1 Montreal, with the last couple of goals coming late.

Speaking of game breakers, interesting stat on TSN this morning

Frank Mahovlich is the only player in habs history with a better ppg avg than Mike Cammalleri in the playoffs, in 7 elimination games with the habs Cammy has 7 goals and 13 points, 1 word Clutch

But Magically, Kaberle had more PP assists than any other defenseman for the past 5 years and Never was out of the top 5 in any full season regarding PP points by a defensemen.

It truly is an enigma.

Hate to keep beating a dead horse but....whats Bostons powerplay now with kaberle manning the point during the playoffs ??...0 for what ? 27 or something. I kept trying to tell everyone why Torontos PP was always 28th - 29th in the league, the guy won`t shoot thus throwing off the forwards timing in front of the net, theres no rythem.

Don`t worry Toxx, 4 - 1 Boston Wed. night ...sorry Pasty.
