Posted - 04/11/2011 : 17:43:19 There are no easy picks, really. All the top teams have good potential reasons to be upset.
Philly has a very ordinary goalie, Pronger banged up, played like crap the last couple of weeks.
Washington always gets upset by the second round last few years, inexperienced goalie, Ovechkin and Backstrom "off season", Green out.
Boston - last season's 4 game comeback meltdown, consistent scoring, poor power play.
Pittsburgh - no Crosby, no Malkin.
Vancouver - Luongo a potential playoff choker, defence injuries, facing playoff nemesis.
Detroit - experience also means old, slower, and no fire in your belly; so-so goaltender.
San Jose - the epitome of playoff choker despite overwhelming talent . . . that's about it, but that's all it's been for like 5 years, lol.
Anaheim - Hiller still out (backed up last two games but not 100%), Emery out now due to lower body injury, now Dan Ellis gets the playoff start. Other than all THAT, they are golden.
Now that I am actually doing my homework here on all the teams before deciding on my player lists for my playoff draft day tomorrow . . . it is looking shakier and shakier on all my instant, off the top of my head picks.
Maybe this is the year of the upset and we just don't know it yet, with the majority of folks only picking one or two.
Who knows . . . but man, this is a tough year!

Posted - 04/11/2011 : 17:31:27 I wish your picks could be right guest, at least the Rangers in the semis part...but it's not possible for PHI/NYR to meet conference finals. If the Rangers put out Washington, it'd be Philly/NYR in round 2. |

Posted - 04/11/2011 : 16:39:48 I'm still trying to decide, in one of my pools you can take any 24 players you want, so i usually pick 4 teams & load up on them.
So far all i can decide on is Philadelphia in the East, Vancouver in the West. I really like Anaheim, but with health questions around both Emery & Hillier, their goaltending is a bit worrisome. And if there are no upsets in the opening round, Vancouver & Anaheim would play each other in round 2. San Jose & Detroit are the other teams i'm considering.
In the East...i'm still not sold on Washington. I think they're capable of going all the way, but at the same time it wouldn't shock me if they were ousted in the 1st round by a hot Henrik Lundqvist. |

Mario - same with VAN and ANA, if they both win their first series they would meet in the second round. Unless you think LA will beat SJ that is... |
