Posted - 04/24/2011 : 19:34:13 Well, I have been defeated, so the last matchup is:
ALEX VS. POLISH EXPRESS
There was once a license plate in Toronto that abbreviated "Go Leafs" it read "Golfs". |

Posted - 04/26/2011 : 14:18:43 That's okay, P.E., Alex would have beaten me so badly!!!!
I actually voted for myself 4 times (each from a different computer!)
By virtue of double disqualification (and the fact that he is up by 15), the winner is:
ALEX

Posted - 04/25/2011 : 17:16:03 Just voted a third time for Alex. It's not only cookies, its also other history (ie. cache). It all depends on how PUH tracks the user's session. If you login and vote, you can only vote once per poll, even if you end your session. Guests seem to be able to vote multiple times, but only once per session, usually indicative that session tracking may be done server side and client side. Server & client for users, only client side for guests, thus giving incentive to become a user.
Hopefully that's not too much tech-talk for a hockey forum! |

Posted - 04/25/2011 : 15:52:47 Interesting, but i've cleared cookies on my comp before and seems to me it didn't make a change on the polls, still had results up with no chance to re-vote? Not a big deal really. |

Posted - 04/25/2011 : 15:42:37 Actually, the way to stuff the ballot is this way: clear cookies, and don't login to PUH. Guests are not limited to votes, i think. Essentially, it's a habit I have, everytime I click on a thread containing a poll, I vote. I have my browser clear all my settings everytime I exit, so it's not like I'm trying to stuff ballots on purpose, I just voice my opinion everytime I look at the thread!! |

Posted - 04/25/2011 : 08:31:58 You can vote more than once? What'd you do, cruise around to all your friends houses and vote from there??? My comp only allows for one vote and then it simply shows the results.
Regardless, shame on you PE But at least you've manned up and admitted to it. lol.
Personally, i think we'd have been better off not doing polls and having members only write in their votes with a post. Maybe only allowing a certain select group? Regardless, it was fun, but it lost some lustre as the playoffs rolled around. Would have been nice to finish it up a couple weeks prior to the playoffs. |

Posted - 04/25/2011 : 08:20:13 No contest. I concede to Alex, in fact, the teams should be Alex vs. AO, as I should be disqualified, explanation below:
@AO I think the last contest had skewed results. In fact, I know the last contest had skewed results. With more than a little embarrassment, I have to say that I voted for myself twice during the poll, and once before the poll closed after Sunday. So unless you too stuffed your own ballot, the final vote would have been 8-7 for you AO. Kind of felt bad, so I thought I'd let you know.
Have to say, though, I'm stuffin' the ballot for Alex right now! |
