Craig Smith might get the last laugh if he continues on his current pace! He's tied with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins with 14 points, leading the NHL with the most points by a rookie player!
With 7 goals and 7 assists so far this season, his production is the same as RNH, and if he scored on the empty net, he would be leading in rookie scoring. (And tied with Matt Reid from the Flyers with most goals by a rookie at 8!) |

You don't see this sort of thing often of course, but as for what he was trying to do (roof it), is that really a big deal? Is it a "no no" as far as showing up the other team? I don't see why it would be? It's not like he did a Omarkian spinorama before he tried to shelf it?
I'm just wondering why Lupul would be choked? If i'm Lupul, i'd have been laughing at him! |

Very funny. Hard to tell for sure, but if left the puck alone, the puck looked to be heading straight for the net. He deprived his teammate of a goal, or an assist if you look at it the other way.
I got a kick out of the Leaf player (Lupul) who made a point to skate over to Smith afterwards. I don't think he did so to offer his condolences. I suspect Smith got some trash-talking from Lupul, and probably his own teammates too.

It's awesome because he is a rookie to, so he will absolutely NEVER live that one down.
But you can't help but laugh at yourself for it, dont beat yourself up. It was funny! |

easy, i'd just watch the patrick stefan highlight vs the oilers, at least craig smith didnt do it in the playoffs or blow the game. |
