Posted - 11/23/2011 : 16:55:54 wow my leading scorer after my goalie is RNH and i got him in the 9th round and seguin in the 7th but i took huge gambles on my pick hence why i have Mikhail Grabovski in the 8th. only thing we have to do is pick a goalie and 2 spares in a 12 round setup. goalies are big point producers for most ppl. |

Posted - 11/23/2011 : 11:47:34 I agree Kessel is a guaranteed pick in any pool, though ours is small,9 people in it, 9 forwards, 4 d 2 goalies, and I should mention that we do have a bad habit of mixing in alcohol when drafting. This is the first pool in which I haven't picked at least one leaf to (except playoff pools of course) and on my last pick knowing that everyone else had overlooked Kessel, I was going to pick him, but i went with my gut instead of my heart believing the hype that washington really was going to turn their offense on this year I went with another capital. and yes I am really kicking my ass for not having a blue and white player on my roster, because I would have went with Kessel, but at the time of this post I am also winning my pool, and can at least take comfort in that. |

No one took Kessel or Lupul in your pool? At all?
That can't be right. Granted, not a first round pick, but Kessel is a guaranteed pick in any pool where 100 players are chosen I would think.
we were just 8 in my pool 9 forwards 5 d men 4 bench 2 goalies and i picked up Lupul and the Nuge as free agents like 8 games into the season, Lupul and the Nuge have really saved my pool too because my top players are really hurting me, I have Geztlaf Staal who really aren`t doing what i had hoped

Posted - 11/23/2011 : 09:23:27 I agree, how was Kessel not selected? Unless it's a very small draft, say 80 players or less, and even then, it's surprising.
I get more and more shocked by some people's pools as they are described on here! Sure, Lupul is a big surprise (he only went in one of mine, which is very deep with 150 players selected), but a guy like Kessel? C'mon, every pool has a Leaf fan or two, surely one of them would "waste" a last pick on him, no? |

Posted - 11/23/2011 : 04:33:27 Lupul is a huge surprise, no question. No Leafer, including myself, could have dreamed him playing this well . . . and trust me, it's not all because of the red-hot Kessel. Lupul definitely has game that none of us really expected . . . not that it doesn't help obviously that he has found such good chemistry with Phil the Thrill.
Versteeg another huge surprise, but then again, with more ice time and first line duties on a team not expected to do much . . . some players really take hold of that, and Versteeg has blossomed.
Smyth has been an absolutely huge surprise for the Oil - did anyone in Edmonton think his signing was for anything more than a bit of grit and leadership and maybe 20 goals? But what a competitor Ryan is, and he is showing it once again.
Personnaly, I am really impressed with Seguin - he looks like the real deal, better than what I thought he would be. And Neal . . . this guy was absolutely on fire to start the season, and it's almost ironic and sad for him that with Crosby back, his production is sure to drop perhaps.
I think there will be many on the list here that will fade back into the pack later, but . . . it is nice to see lots of fresh faces. Certainly fun as a Leafer to see Kessel still atop the standings!

Posted - 11/23/2011 : 04:17:47 I definitely agree! no one even took a lot of these names in my pool. Kessel and Lupul were just thought of to be too big of gambles, we all know how kessel did last year, and Lupul was untested on the Toronto team. As for Versteeg, it is nice to see that he finally found a place last year, but as a Toronto fan I have to say to Versteeg "Where the hell were you last year?" And who could have guessed the Nuge would have such a stellar rookie campaign. Although I think it is great to see new names on the top scorers list, it makes for a more interesting pool draft next year. |
