Heard a bit of water cooler chat about philadelphia being interested in shane doan. From what i heard any grouping or even all of the players listed:
bobrovsky, couturier, schenn, JVR
could be sent in exchange for doan. just wondering if anyone else has heard anything about this?? to me it seems completely absurd from phillys standpoint. i would possibly consider trading one or two of the 4 mentioned for doan but definitely not all of them which is what i've been told. |

There's no way in the world Philly gives up ALL of those guys for Doan! That's absolutely absurd!
Bobrovsky for Doan i could see as i don't think Bob's a huge asset really. I couldn't even see them giving up one of the other three with him in a 2 for 1 deal. If one of those other guys is thrown in the deal, surely Pho will be giving up more than just Doan? |

During the VAN/PHX game the other night, the commentators were speculating a lot on Doan's future - he's possibly getting anxious to win as his career nears its end, sees no short term success in Phoenix, and would not mind moving to a contender. He's UFA after this season, and carries a very reasonable cap hit of 4.5M now, so he'd be easy to move.
I think plenty of teams would be interested in Doan, Vancouver included which is why it was discussed. He's a great player, leader, could play first thru 3rd line in all situations. Good depth forward for sure.
That package from PHI seems steep for someone like Doan - UFA after the season and 35 years old - but if PHX could get that from them good for them. I would like to see VAN make a pitch for him as well, if he's truly available. |

they would never even trade one for Doan. Those are pretty good young players you named there. Couturier, Bobrovsky and Schenn are absolutly not on the market and I think a guy like JVR would be used for a solid defense to fill the void left by Pronger. |
