Spooky year for opposite parallelism (for lack of a better description). 1+8, 2+7, 3+6, 4+5, all = 9. Here's what I mean:

Round 1
West #8, East #1 wins
West #2, East #7 wins
West #3, East #6 wins
West #4, East #5 wins

Round 2
West #8 wins, East #1 is leading...
West #3 wins, East #6 is leading...

Round 3 predictions?
LA vs NYR or
Pho vs NJ ?

In 2010, the same thing happened, all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals:

West
#1 San Jose vs #8 Colorado
#2 Chicago vs #7 Nashville
#3 Vancouver vs #6 LA
#4 Phoenix vs #5 Detroit

East
#1 Washington vs #8 Montreal
#2 New Jersey vs #7 Philadelphia
#3 Buffalo vs #6 Boston
#4 Pittsburgh vs #5 Ottawa

Round 1
West #1, East #8 won
West #2, East #7 won
West #3, East #6 won
West #5, East #4 won

Round 2:
West #1, East #8 won
West #2, East #7 won

Round 3:
West #2, East #7 won

Final Round:
Chicago beat Philadelphia

PHX vs NJ will work just as well... 3 vs 6

so, I guess it has to be LA vs NYR in the cup final, to keep it going, strange.

It's extremely interesting! I'm amazed you even came up with this! It really is strange. I guess we'll have to see how it plays out the rest of the way!

Alex, I guess I just have too much time on my hands.....

Interesting though, is it not?

simleung.....

I have but one question.....How in the world did you come up with this? If you read it somewhere and are passing it on, i'd love to know how ANYONE would have figured this out!

I don't know whether to laugh, or cry, at this epic post.

I choose laughter!
