Were almost half way through the 07/08 hockey season. There has been surprises and disapointments. But who's been the biggest disapointment so far?(compared to last year)

I think I would go with the Buffalo Sabres, and it's controversial. But the President's trophy winners of last year are not currently playoff contenders. Sure, they last two captains but a lot of the analysts thought they could be in the top 5 of conference. Their young guys are not only not having breakthrough seasons, not only not stepping up, they are doing a lot worse. Maybe not all, bu for me, Vanek has been dismal. I thought he would reach the 60 point platuea this year, seeing a lot more ice time and taking a key role. Well, he won't.

Thoughts? Was I in a cloud, or were the analysts just off?

Habs get number 25 this year

First off I am pissed with the Emery situation Ottawa. He has been nothing but a detriment to fortunes thus far in my hockey pool. Secondly, I am scared stiff because the Habs at the very least look like playoff contenders and this disappoints me to no end. Thirdly, Jason Blake, at least up until the last two games has been anything close to what was predicted. Forthly, the play of the Mighty Maples has been utterly disappointing for me to put it mildly. Lastly, the judicial system in the new NHL has been abysmal and very Bettman like in it's bias from Colin Campbell on down to the on ice and off ice officials!!!!!!

I wish Darcy Regier would have gave Vanek to Oilers because then the Sabres would have got 10, I repeat 10 first round picks. If they would have done that they would get the Stanley cup in about 6 years. So if Vanek did leave, the Sabres would even be worse and that means a higher draft pick.

To answer the poll question. Patrik Marleau is the biggest disappointment. He is known as a premier center man and now he is playing the wing with Joe Thornton and he still isn't producing. The worst part of it all though is his +/-. He is around -8 I believe. That's just not right.

yeah but edmonton is responsible for that !!!!

im going to say ryan miller
he was suppose to be a rock solid goalie and one of the best ,, but he has been letting in a lot of late weak and game changing goals....

Horton is having a fairly decent year if you look at his past production.

Marleau is supposed to be a premier first line center in the league. Couple that with the fact that he's been getting lots of time on a line with Thornton (playing the wing) and his point production is disgusting. (It's helping me win my hockey pool though!)

Sheldon Souray, partly due to injury but even now that he's back he's a little slow getting on the score sheet.

I had to go with Staal. Last year should have been a stepping stone, he should have used that experiance to not just repeat but to improve upon the success from last year. Not only did he not improve he took a giant leap backwards, if he's not careful Marc could outscore him this year.

I know Jagr is a big question mark there but last year at this point he had about 12 points more. But I'm sure he'll pick up as the season go's on
