Posted - 01/06/2008 : 07:56:54 Hey guys, my monthly trade just closed a week ago and I am wondering if I made a mistake. In a season and playoff pool where only goals and assists get you points, I traded away Iginla for Alfredsson. At the time, and still, the Sens were in 1st in the conference, and as then, I firmly believe they will go to the finals.
However, the Flames who where then in 8th are now in 3rd. I know the West is very, very, very close, but should I have tried to get a bit more or is it a safe move?
The other aspect I never considered is that a Western series involving Calgary is likely to go longer than an eastern one featuring the Sens and the last place teams...
Did I make a mistake?

Alfreddson juggles from the first and second line a lot. They both will finish well in points by years end, I do believe Alfy will have more pts in the playoffs than Iginla. But Iginla finishing the regular season with more than Alfy. Around 5-10 point differntial for the season.
Season Alf: 98 Iggy: 104
Playoffs: Alf: 14 Iggy: 7
- Yes, looking threw current stats these numbers may seem like odd predictions or projections, but... they are my projections. :)

Posted - 01/06/2008 : 12:13:34 Hey Alex, I would have to agree with Beans on this one. Alfie has a lot of points this year mostly due to playing earlier on with Heatly and Spezza. Unfortunately because of his diverse talents the coaches tend to move him around quite a bit, which is the case right now and his production is not quite as good when seaparted from the other two. He is still going at a point a game clip though. I follow him closely because I have him in my pool. Iginla is on fire right now and this may end up to be a career year for him. I got lucky on this in my pool because I have Huselius. Now, this guy might be a good aquisition for you because he has been right there point wise with Iginla over the last while. If you could get ahold of him you might have both ends covered?

Posted - 01/06/2008 : 08:43:23 Yes. Iginla is a point producing machine this year. He's got help around him, but it's not been very consistant yet he still finds a way to be 2nd in the league. Plus, I think a team like Calgary has to stay more on the edge than Ottawa. The Flames can't affford a lose.
Not saying Alfreddson is a bad pick up, I'd love to have either. However, Iginla is one of the 3 or 4 untradable players in any draft this year.
Wayne or Bobby?? How about both!!! |
