I wanted to bring everyone's attention to the recent influx of asian players to the elite leagues of different sports. From the sheer dominance of the Japanese and Korean soccer teams in the world cup to the number one pick in the NBA draft and the recent signing of Godzilla, we are starting to see more asian player demand more attention. You have to figure that with over 1 billion orientals in the world, there has to be a couple of them with some talent. But I think it will be a matter of time before you see more asian hockey players being picked up in the hockey draft.

That's right. It needs to grow from the bottom up.

Just had to throw my little anti-expansion propaganda in there. :)

On my rec hockey team alone we have 5 asian players. 2 chinese, 1 japanese and 2 of the boys are from Korea. I wasn't aware that hockey was even played in Korea. Apparently it's pretty big. Good for the sport!

I think you're right. Back at the Nagano olympics I remember being amazed that there was even a Japanese hockey team let alone the fact that a few of them really could play. As more nations become more global they are of course exposed to other cultures and sports within those cultures. It is only natural that Hockey will grow in asia. Too bad the sport is so expensive compared to basketball, baseball etc.
