Posted - 06/27/2011 : 11:43:50 Does anyone know where the Islanders and Nabokov stand? Last I heard was before the playoffs where Garth Snow had picked him up right before he was clearing to play for Detroit. Snow called Nabokov who hung up on him and apparently was in disbelief that the Isles had picked him up and publically said he would not be of any help to them as they were sitting almost dead last in the conference...
I have not heard anything after that though... anyone know if he'll be suiting up next season? |

Nabokov is still tied to the 500K contract however, for this coming season. |

Posted - 06/27/2011 : 14:29:37 i think this situation is hilarious and embarassing. hilarious because i never really like nabby that much and always thought he was a bit overrated. embarassing because garth snow probably has absolutely no respect from his fellow gm's. this isn't something a respectable person would do... i know its a business but trade the guy for a 7th round pick to somewhere he doesn't mind playing the nordiques traded lindros even after drafting him knowing he didn't want to play |

Posted - 06/27/2011 : 12:14:09 He's the property of NYI for the 2011/12 season, and if he plays his original contract of 500K will be the amount. Something tells me that he will not report to the team and will instead wait them out and get them to put him back on waivers (I believe he needs to clear waivers again before he is traded).
If he does not move next season, then he becomes a UFA next summer. |
