Posted - 02/08/2011 : 09:32:42 I voted yes to the poll question, but if Crosby's return is delayed past this week, it is very unlikely he will catch Steven Stamkos or Daniel Sedin. (Or Henrik Sedin for that matter.) The odds obviously diminish for each and every game Crosby misses beyond this week though.
To answer Mario's question, the points leader is obviously not always the league MVP, but if Crosby is less than 10 points behind Stamkos or the Sedins (or anyone else), I think the nod will go to Crosby. (As long as he's close in points, and his points-per-game are higher than everyone else. And Pittsburgh finishes well due to the games where Crosby is in the line-up.)
By the way, where's the press who suggested Crosby was pulling a tantrum for not playing in the all-star game? Even when Crosby said this was completely untrue, the media (and some fans too) pursued this as a story, suggesting at the very least, that Crosby was skipping the all-star game to show the league his displeasure for how they deal with head shots.

Posted - 02/08/2011 : 08:41:27 I believe it is a very likely yes. In 11 - 13 more games they Stamkos & Sedin have 6 and 3 more points then he does. If he comes back with 20 games to play he will catch atleast one of the two possibly both.
The real question is if crosby finishes with 10 less points then either player in 18 less games is there anyway possible he is not the unanimous league MVP?

He would likely catch Daniel though

The only reason why I won't bash you for that is because Stamkos is AAAAAAWESOOOOOOMEEEE!!!!

Posted - 02/07/2011 : 16:29:06 I'm not so sure he could do it. If he came back by the coming weekend he would be a couple games further behind. Plus, it'll take a couple games to knock the rust off so he could be as many as 10+ points back with only 25 games to go. A tough feat, even for Crosby. |

Posted - 02/07/2011 : 00:15:09 I voted yes as well, for the same reasons nuxfan stated. However, concussions are a strange beast, and with reports saying that he may be out for longer than originally thought, I don't see him going on the same tear he went on before the injury. If he gets more than 12-15 points back before his return, I don't see it happening. |

Posted - 02/07/2011 : 00:04:34 I voted yes, but from what I understand he'll be out until March, so it's an if that won't happen. |

Posted - 02/06/2011 : 22:51:06 he's only 3 points back of Sedin now (and 6 back of Stamkos). Crosby showed that he could carry that team before he went down, and now with Malkin out he'll have to carry them for the rest of the season. He could do it for sure. |
