Will the Calgary Flames make it to the 2010/11 playoffs?

Well it was a good run by the Flames, and Iginla inspired play down the stretch was indeed impressive But with Anaheim up 6-1 right now, it looks like the Flames are 20 minutes away from being eliminated.

Perry with goals 48, 49, and 50 in that Ducks game! The Ducks are flying tonight, not the team i'd want to face in the first round if him one of the top seeds.

Iggy with 2 more so far tonight! Up to 41! CRAZY! Somebody give that guy an award of some sort!! He had just 2 goals in the first 15 games of the season!!!

Wow, that is pathetic, That coach shouldn't step behind a bench again. What team do you play for Semin?
Back to Calgary, They are done like dinner. And another Blackhawks Canucks series looks to be on the way. I hope we can find a way to come out on top. Though Chitown isn't exactly the same team as the last 2 years.

CANUCKS RULE!!!

That's pretty pathetic! I was totally joking about the Canucks "coasting", but then again, what've they been doing lately?

Pretty sad thing to do at the high school level!

Alex that comment about Vancouver coasting to let Calgary into the playoffs leading to the elimination of Anaheim and chicago would certainly be interesting.
And that exact thing had happened to my high school hockey team this year for the city championship ! I am proud to say I was apart of it all. And I know how it would feel to be in that situation.

If anyone wants to read the article about what had happened it's right here

The Canucks play in Calgary on Saturday night. Imagine if it got to the point where a Calgary win would have them in? I wonder if Vancouver would "coast" so that they'd draw Calgary instead of Chicago or Anaheim. Lol, i am only kidding......

Semin, i did hear about Dallas' relatively "friendly" schedule to end the season! Good luck and enjoy the game you go to. Hopefully it's a meaningful game for your team!!!

that's not impossible Alex !
Dallas has quite an easy road for their last 3 games. A home-and-home with Colorado and a game against Minnesota ( which I will be at btw :D) Dallas has a chance ! Anaheim plays San Jose which will be a tough matchup and the blues are playing against Chicago tonight. All crucial points on the line. Edmonton is coming off two massive wins and have the momentum tonight. This game will make or break calgarys year and I am not giving up on my Stars just yet !

Leigh, they're certainly not quitting! Bummer though that they have Dallas to deal with, not just the chase of Anaheim and Chicago!

Pretty big win last night against the very powerful Edmonton Oilers! Ok, so it wasn't pretty and the Oil aren't powerful, but it was big.

The Stars lost so that helps out, but unfortunately the Ducks won. Two out of three of my hockey wishes came true last night.

No...Iggy is in my pool and needs to keep trying to score goals until the end!

The Flames playoff hopes are vanishing fast. They've been a real hot and cold team this season. In their last 7 games, they have only 1 win. Before that, they captured 11 out of 14 points.

I think they're done, and the Oilers might deal them a real death blow when the two teams meet on Saturday night.

Yeah, I really thought they would make it too . . . they aren't playing bad hockey out there. But the west is so tough in the middle.

It really looks like last night's game has stuck a fork in them.

Which probably means Iggy can stop trying so hard to score goals now . . . anytime now Iggy, you look tired! Have a rest!

they're toast.

but, but, but, if they win the next 6.....maybe.....sigh......
Alex116 Posted - 03/23/2011 : 22:06:16
Sorry Leigh......time to "stick a fork in'em"!
nuxfan Posted - 03/23/2011 : 21:56:03
tonight's loss might have been the final nail in the coffin...2 points out of a playoff spot, but both DAL and ANA have 3 games in hand. That is bordering on the impossible

leigh Posted - 03/23/2011 : 10:53:07
Two losses ago my optimism began to wane. After the last loss to LA I truly realized the odds were stacked immensly against them.

With only 7 games left they would pretty much have to win at least 6 AND hope that two of the teams above them tanked (9th through 4th) That is not a pretty picture considering how many games the other teams have in hand. Not to mention how well each of those teams have been playing in the last 10 games - while Calgary has struggled in the last 10. And all those crazy 3 point games coming out of the West! Man oh man!!!

It's mathmatically possible but the chances are slim.

BUT I'm still hoping!!!
Alex116 Posted - 03/23/2011 : 07:30:49
As evident by my prediction in Pasty's "contest", i said they would (back then). However, i now will have to say, they're more or less DONE. They'd have to run the table AND have some help from those above them. Too many points to catch up to too many other teams with less games to play.

Done.
