Who do you think will come out on top in the series Tampa bay or Boston?

Slozo - I was thinking that the czech accents would somehow help to express the enormity of the task at hand!

I see your point, and believe me, I really am cheering for this guy to do well. But it is one thing to be not so good defensively, and another to be, well, "Tomáš defensively." Recently anyway. Sure, I can live with "not so good defensively" if a guy is producing well offensively. But Tomáš has been beyond just "not so good defensively" at times, sometimes gift-wrapping opportunities for the Bolts. I mean, it seems like just about every other game there is a highlight of him almost assisting on goals by the Bolts (recently, I think the third goal in Game 1 and maybe one of the ones in Game 4 too).

In any case, my comment was aimed at his offence too. I think he has to take some responsibility for the terrible mess the power play is in, though Julien probably should get some too (are they still playing him on it? - havent seen full highlights of Game 5 yet). Everyone on the opposing PK units seems to know he ain't going to shoot which is allowing them to read the play and severely limiting the options, flow, spontaneity etc. of the Bs on the power play.

Sure, others are to blame too for the B's occasional lapses, and sure, Tomáš has made some nice plays here and there in between his lapses. But overall, asa Bruins fan since 1977 (Don Cherry and the lunch pail gang converted me), I'll say that Tomáš scares me as much as any of Vinny Lecavalier, Stevey Stamkos or Marty St. Louis right now.

I mean look at those guys names. No scary czech accents or anything!

Slozo, offensive, defensive, stay at home, crushing hitter etc regardless of the label you place on a defenseman their number one job is to play defense and keep the puck out of their net. Kaberle is at fault along with others and the fact he is not doing his secondary job of contributing in the offensive zone simply adds to his anaemic play. By no means is it solely his fault, but by no means does he get a pass because he is viewed as an offensive dman. No matter how any of us try to spin it as a DMAN Defense is priority numero uno & every positive there after is simply money in the bank.

Every journey begins with a single step.

I can't disagree with you that he isn't playing that great, no . . . but let's face facts here - Boston's weakness at this point is their defence at times, and Kaberle was brought in as an offensive d-man. Shouldn't it be guys like Chara, Seidenberg, McQuaid and Boychuk who should start taking some of the blame for defensive lapses?

I mean to say . . . shouldn't the blame for the proper things be assigned? I say lay into Kaberle for his poor offense or power play numbers, sure - fair comment. But if looking at what I think is Boston's real weakness, I don't see it as Kaberle - I see it as a combination of team defence, with a large part of the responsibility resting on the "defensive" defencemen.

Easy solution, take him out and put in Shane Nidy, or Steven Kampfer.
