They have Lucic Bergeron kessel chara and savard as leaders.Tim Thomas is ausome as well but will get a little worse at the time goes by he'l end up with a 2.50 averge 5-6 shutouts and one of the top ten goalies of the 08-09 year... Posted - 11/28/2008 : 22:15:27 As the B's fall, so will Thomas. The cinderella story will end soon enough. He will have a good season, but just like someone else said, his numbers will be close to his career totals.

Posted - 11/28/2008 : 11:47:04 Thomas probably wont be able to put up these numbers all year but he has stepped into the role of a solid number one goaltender. He is the real deal but lets hope Boston doesn't give him too big of a contract, 3 years at about 3 mill a season would be good with Manny gone and Rask on the way up next year. |

Posted - 11/26/2008 : 17:08:53 Thomas is playing well and so are the rest of Bruins. This could be the season that Thomas steps out and makes a big statement to the rest of the league. On the other hand if the Bruins falter, Thomas is likely to still be labelled as not quite good enough. I hope he keeps it up, its great to see the Bruins at the top with the Rangers and Montreal. This could be the year we finally see an original six final again with Detroit being a powerhouse in the west. |

Posted - 11/26/2008 : 15:13:08 Ok Ok, Thomas is playing AMAZING hockey. The options however are Overachieving and Real Deal. I don't want to burst anyones bubble but for ANY goalie in the league to put up these numbers for an entire season they would be over achieving.
Boston has played 21 games, a quarter of the season with Thomas getting 2/3 of the starts. If he was to keep this up he would end up with 36 wins and 8 shut outs on top of his extremely impressive GAA and SV %.
Last season the goalie with the best GAA was Osgood at 2.09, .29 higher. The top SV % was Dan Ellis at .924%, .2% lower. To expect any goalie to put those numbers up over the course of a full season would be expecting them to overachieve.
To add even more perspective to this, last years Vezina winner Fatty Brodeur had a GAA of 2.14 and a SV % of .920% and only 4 shut outs. Thomas is on pace for 8, playing a fewer percentage of games then Brodeur did.
I think it would be safe to expect his numbers to begin to even out to somthing similar to his career numbers. |
