Posted - 12/19/2006 : 22:21:40 Hey Pucker I'm not trying to steal your thunder! As they say though, imitation is the greatest form of flattery! That thread is getting long and so I decided to create my own little trivia section. These questions might be very easy or very difficult, all you have to do is use your melon. I would also like to ask that people do not look these questions up for the answers, as it ruins the whole fun in trying to answer them.
My first question is as follows:
We all know that Jarome Iginla won the Art Ross in 2002 (especially all of the Flames fans here). So what? Well with this win, he also accomplished something that hadn't happened since 1966. What did he do?? |

Posted - 02/28/2007 : 17:15:25 Yes thank you for clearing that up TC, I didn't explain that well. But yes it was Thomson with 0G 29A in 1947-48. |

That's Thomson without the 'p'. :) He did this in the 40's, but he did play mostly in th 50's so it's possible that's who B meant.
I didnt know this, I had to look this one up! |

I'll guess 33, and
Langway? Park? Steve Smith?

Posted - 02/22/2007 : 13:59:34 Wrong player and points are a little lower than that. |

Posted - 02/20/2007 : 20:42:10 Hmmm... Good question...
I guess it'll have to be a defensive dman who plays a lot on a good team.
I'll guess: Charlie Huddy and 35 points |

Posted - 02/20/2007 : 20:16:43 I just found this one and thought it was kind of neat. It was current to 1997-98 but I'm 99.9% sure it's still true. I'd like to see some none-Google answers, it would probably be easy to find on there.
Who has scored the most points in a season without scoring a goal and how many assists/points did he get? |

Posted - 01/14/2007 : 14:10:21 PuckNuts, I know some of these questions have been hanging for a while, but just reminding you that the whole point of this forum is to test people's knowledge, not their Googling ability. You might just be doing it for the questions that no one has answered for a while which is fine but just making sure you don't make it a habit . |

Posted - 12/31/2006 : 20:21:01 It was over 5 games, so I'm saying 310 mins. |

Posted - 12/31/2006 : 11:16:11 Boucher with the Coyotes is right but the minutes is wrong (it is over 200 though) |

Posted - 12/31/2006 : 04:20:37 In "modern" hockey, sure it was Brian Boucher with the Coyotes, for more than 200 minutes, in 2003-04. But before 1950, maybe it was someone I can't remember. |

Posted - 12/30/2006 : 14:40:29 1) What is the longest streak that a goalie has not been scored on? (if you get it within 5 mins ill give it to you)
2) Who was the goalie and what team did he play for? |

Posted - 12/28/2006 : 12:51:26 Hey guys, I took a little hiatus but the correct answer is Phil Esposito, 6 times and the most goals he scored was 76.
I'll be back soon with another question. |
Nordiques |
Posted - 12/27/2006 : 12:01:59 The reason why i didn't put Esposito: during the years he was on top of scoring in the NHL, there were a guy named Bobby Orr who finished first in scoring too one year or two... |
-oil-country- |
Posted - 12/26/2006 : 20:04:50 i still think Espo did it more consecutive times then Gretz so im gonna go with him and for highest goals 76 (thanks to leigh ) |

Thanks Beans i would have guessed Gretzky if you didn't put your post and make me think about Espo and Howe
Esposito actually got 76 goals one year. It was the record before Gretz go 92.
I have to say Wayne with 6 or 7 consecutive titles and he scored 92 goals in either 1981 or 1982 (212 pts) |

Posted - 12/26/2006 : 17:47:44 i'll say Howe and highest goals ummmm.....67 |
Beans15 |
Posted - 12/23/2006 : 21:21:40 I am pretty sure it was before that, either Gordie Howe or Phil Esposito. I'll go with Espo. Number of goals?? Without looking it up I would guess 65?? |
Nordiques |
Posted - 12/23/2006 : 19:28:35 well, you said that is an easy one... I don't know if is it as easy as I think...
I'll say Wayne Gretzky, from 80-81 to 85-86 (that means 6 years). I don't think Howe or anyone else have done better than that....
The difficult part is the number of goals scored... and that number is a record of the NHL. I know there are a year he put 215 pts and that isstill the record for the highest number of points in a year. But it wasn't that year he scored the highest number of goals... it was some season before, where he had, if my memory is good enough, 92 goals. |

Posted - 12/23/2006 : 16:45:11 points or goals? |
bablaboushka |
Posted - 12/23/2006 : 16:10:02 There, that is correct. On to the next one, a rather easy one:
Which NHL player has won the scoring title the most consecutive years and what was his highest amount of goals scored in a year during that time? |
-oil-country- |
Posted - 12/23/2006 : 13:59:16 Oilers in 86-87? |

Posted - 12/23/2006 : 13:14:39 Ok putting everyone's guesses together:
Nordiques: -Calgary in 1988-89 is correct, make them number 2. -In 1996-97, it was Colorado who won the President's trophy, not Detroit. -As a side note, you're right that NJ has never won the President's trophy.
Beans: -Your final guesses were both correct; -Dallas in 1998-99, make that number 3. -Colorado in 2000-01, make that number 4. -Pittsburgh did not win the President's trophy in 1991-92, NYR did.
Oil: -Detroit in 2001-02 is correct, make that number 5.
Ok, there is only ONE left and a previous guess was very close. |
-oil-country- |
Posted - 12/23/2006 : 09:52:31 Colorado in 01 and Detroit in 02 i think |

Posted - 12/23/2006 : 09:25:03 Thanks for the Help Nord,
My guess is Dallas in 99 and Colorado in 01. |
Nordiques |
Posted - 12/23/2006 : 07:28:35 Dallas won the Cup in 99. Detroit, as I have said, in 97, 98 and 02. Colorado in 96 and 01. New Jersey had it 3 times: 95, 00 and 03, but I'm pretty sure they've never finished 1st overall in the season. |
Beans15 |
Posted - 12/23/2006 : 07:13:15 What about Pittsburgh in 91-92??
I am also thinking the Colorado did it in the late 90's. Not sure what year.
Maybe Dallas?? Can't remember what year either. Maybe 97 |
